A New Connection for Fayette County! 🚲

The new bike path connecting Milledgeville to Octa is an exciting addition to our local trail system, providing 1.7 miles of paved path along the existing railroad right-of-way, along with a new parking lot in Milledgeville for trail users.

One of the most unique features of the project is the 171-foot, three-span truss bridge over Rattlesnake Creek. Originally constructed in 1916, the historic bridge was salvaged from another Ohio county, relocated to the site, and reconstructed as part of this project - giving new life to a piece of Ohio history while creating an incredible feature for trail users.

The approximately $2.47 million project was made possible in large part through Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) Transportation Alternatives Program (TAP) funding.

This trail is also part of a much larger vision for connectivity in our region. It extends the existing bike path coming from Greene County and will eventually connect into the bike path system within the City of Washington Court House. 🚴‍♀️🌳

We’re excited to see this investment in recreation, connectivity, and quality of life continue to grow throughout Fayette County!

What an incredible morning at our first-ever Trails of Summer 5K & 10K Run/Walk!

Thank you to everyone who participated, volunteered, sponsored, and cheered on our runners. Your support made our inaugural event a tremendous success!

This event was about more than crossing the finish line—it was about bringing our community together while raising awareness and support for the continued growth of Fayette County's trail system. Seeing so many people come together to enjoy our trails was a great reminder of why these spaces are so important.

We're grateful to our sponsors, volunteers, and everyone who helped make the day possible. We also want to congratulate all of our participants for a job well done!

Take a look at some of the highlights from an amazing day. We can't wait to see everyone back next year as we continue building momentum for healthier lifestyles, stronger communities, and expanded trail opportunities throughout Fayette County!

Let's try this again!

It looks to be a beautiful day to spend time at one of our local parks, come together as a community, and enjoy free resources, information, food, and treats (while supplies last)!

We hope to see you at the park beside the pond and near the splash pad - 11 a.m. - 2 p.m.

Many of our community partners will be there! Will you?
