Middle Township Honors Daniel Auld with the Middle Matters Award!

Middle Township proudly presented Daniel Auld of Whitesboro with the Middle Matters Award at tonight’s Township Committee meeting for his outstanding years of community service and generosity.

Auld was nominated by Middle Township High School Principal Dr. Sharon Rementer, who highlighted his selfless dedication to supporting students, families, and community members in need.

Owner of multiple food trucks, Dan has consistently stepped up to feed students, support families in need, help the homeless, and give back through school events and charitable causes.

His journey of overcoming challenges and dedicating his life to service is truly inspiring.

“Dan Auld exemplifies the values that the Middle Matters Award was created to recognize,” said Mayor Chris Leusner.

Congratulations, Dan! Thank you for making Middle Township a better place.

The Middle Township High School Robotics Club students recently volunteered their time to help prepare the native garden areas at the Cape May County Zoo.

This project is part of a collaborative effort between the Middle Township Environmental Commission and the Cape May County Park/Zoo to highlight the importance of native plants for the community, visitors, pollinators, and local wildlife.

Thank you to these students for lending their time and energy to help get the gardens ready for the reveal.

Middle Township, NJ – Middle Township Committee has accepted a $7,716 grant from the New Jersey Department of Law and Public Safety to support the Middle Township Police Department’s 2026 Summer Youth Camp.
The funding was accepted at the Township Committee meeting on May 18, 2026. This grant will help expand participation in the week-long summer camp experience at no cost to local middle school students.

Over the past eight years, over 500 local students have graduated from the MTPD Summer Youth Camp. The program depends on a combination of state grants, business sponsorships, and individual donations to keep the camp free for participants.

The Summer Youth Camp is a popular community initiative that engages incoming 6th through 8th grade students in positive, fun, and educational activities during the summer. A limited number of incoming 9th graders serve as Peer Leaders. The Youth Camp is organized and managed by Middle Township police officers and supported by other law enforcement agencies, community organizations and volunteers. The camp focuses on building teamwork, leadership, communication, empathy, and social skills in a safe and supportive environment.

Campers enjoy team-building activities, participate in daily physical training and hear from representatives of Cape Assist, a Wildwood-based substance abuse prevention agency, about making healthy life choices.

The grant was awarded through the Youth Justice Commission’s 2026 Summer Expansion Programming via the New Jersey Governor’s Youth Justice and Delinquency Prevention Committee. The program helps community organizations expand positive youth development activities during the summer months.

“We are excited to receive this continuing support from the State of New Jersey towards the annual funding for our Police Youth Camp,” said Mayor Chris Leusner. “The camp would not be possible without the generous support of our many local sponsors. This additional contribution will help ensure that as many of our kids as possible have the opportunity to participate in 2026.”

If you would like to contribute to support the 2026 Middle Township Police Youth Camp, please contact Sgt. Kurt Saettler at 609.465.8700 ext. 1922.

Middle Township regrets to announce that the June 6, 2026 “Savor the Arts” event at the Ockie Wisting Complex has been cancelled.

While we were looking forward to celebrating the incredible talent of our local artists, performers, musicians, craft vendors, and community partners, circumstances beyond our control have made it necessary to postpone this year’s event. We sincerely thank everyone who planned to participate and support this special community celebration.

The Township remains deeply committed to supporting the arts and showcasing the creativity that makes our hometown unique.

We are excited to announce that plans are already underway for a new community event coming this Fall.

Stay tuned!

Mayor Leusner had the honor of attending the Flags of Liberty Ceremony in Wildwood this past Friday.

In a moving ceremony, Sheriff Bob Nolan presented the Sojourn 250 flag to veteran Bill Davenport, who then raised it over the Wildwood Vietnam Memorial.

"I was grateful to have witnessed such a meaningful tribute to our country and our veterans," Mayor Leusner said. "As we observe Memorial Day and move towards America's 250th birthday, publicly honoring our flag and all who have served to protect and defend our freedoms, takes on an even more profound meaning.”
