Good Morning,

The docket for Thursday, August 27, 2020 will be cancelled.

With the information that has come out this morning upgrading Laura to a hurricane and possible major hurricane; along with, the mandatory evacuation of Galveston Island, voluntary evacuations that have been put into place for surrounding cities, and closure of the Port of Houston the Coastal Bend Children's Court has made the decision to take every precaution possible to protect attorneys and litigants.

Please be on the lookout for reset notices.

Judge Rawlinson and Delilah hope you and your families stay safe and healthy.

The Coastal Bend Children’s Court created this page in response to COVID-19 in order to better disseminate important information and updates. Since April 2, 2020 the Court has held 251 remote hearings including contested and final hearings with respondents and caregivers from all over the country. From the beginning our goal has been to ensure that permanency for the children under the Court’s jurisdiction is not delayed, and that the families we serve are not lost in the chaos brought forward by the pandemic. The Court wanted to be a certain thing during an uncertain time; and, while the process of remote hearings is not perfect and we do prefer in person proceedings we are happy that we have a solution that allows timely access to justice while maintaining the safety of those involved.

From Judge Rawlinson and Delilah we thank everyone who has been a part of this. We understand that our court changed the way we do business almost overnight. Thank you for enduring all the bumps and bruises along the way, we are very much aware that none of this would be possible without the support of the lawyers and families that come before us.

Stay safe, stay healthy.
