The Harris County Sheriff's Office Crime Scene Unit hosted an advanced forensic training at our HCSO Academy. One Sergeant and 10 CSIs participated in a week-long class and challenged the International Association of Identification (IAI) certification test, which is very demanding. We had a 100% passing rate, which is an enormous achievement marking the highest number of certified CSIs we ever had. We are grateful to the rest of the Crime Scene Family, who stepped up to cover all shifts and allow their brothers and sisters to succeed.
Additionally, we welcomed our two new Latent Print Examiners to our Family

Relentless efforts and excellent teamwork between the Crime Laboratory/Crime Scene Unit and Homicide brought closure to the victim’s family; in this tragedy. The CSIs & Latent Print Examiners (LPEs) due diligence and attention to detail led to discovering the forensic evidence that helped solve this case. A prime example of CSIs & LPEs applying the extensive training they receive and state-of-the-art equipment issued by the HCSO to bring justice to the victims of violent crimes & their loved ones. We are grateful to the Harris County Sheriff's Office’s Command Staff for their consistent support of CSU’s mission.

A couple of weeks ago, we became aware of a little Angel who dreamed of becoming a Police Officer and was courageously fighting cancer. We mailed her a package of goodies to show our support. On February 5, 2022, she was called upon to serve in Heaven. Apparently, she thought of us and had sent us an envelope containing ten special bracelets. We proudly wore them and decided to forever honor her legacy by having her picture displayed in the main hallway of the HCSO Crime Laboratory/Crime Scene Unit.
