Congressman Randy Weber has introduced H.R. 9325, the Lone Star Coastal National Recreation Area Act, a Texas-led, partnership-based approach to advancing recreation, conservation, coastal resilience and economic opportunity across the Upper Texas Gulf Coast.
The Lone Star Coastal Alliance extends its deepest gratitude to Congressman Weber and his colleagues, Rep. Troy Nehls (TX22) and Rep. Brian Babin (TX36) and Rep. Wesley Hunt (TX38) for their leadership and support of this longstanding community vision.
Rooted in local leadership and supported through partnerships with the National Park Service, the proposed National Recreation Area would create a framework across Jefferson, Chambers, Galveston, Brazoria and Matagorda Counties to:
• expand recreation and public access,
• strengthen coastal resilience and conservation,
• support working lands, cultural heritage, and coastal communities, and
• enhance tourism and long-term economic vitality across the region.
After more than 15 years of collaboration, this milestone reflects the dedication of local communities, landowners, conservation partners, businesses and elected officials working together to elevate the Upper Texas Gulf Coast.
