If you are thinking about growing hemp there is a lot to know. This conference in Brenham, Oct 20-22, can answer some of your questions. Growing, processing and the legal hurdles will be addressed.

The feedback has been overwhelming positive though we are aware of various items that need improvement, mainly a smoother registration process and printed materials, etc.  Given the event came together in such a short time frame with such tremendous attendance, we now have the first one under our b...

I just got off of a conference call with Farm-Aid and had these three take-a ways for farmers that had losses.
1. Document everything. Photos would be important.
2. Contact FEMA about the following: Unemployment pay (yes, even for self employed farmers), losses of trucks and cars, losses of or in your houses.
3. contact the FSA about farm loses. Crops, tractors, outbuildings.
Contact these agencies within 30 days of the event. Your deadline will come quicker than you think. Walk (or boat) into the FSA offices and ask for help filling out the paperwork.
Remember that there are small grants from TOFGA and the Grow Elgin Project (on my facebook feed).
We all had losses. Some are threatening the future of their farms and thus the future of local agriculture.
Thanks to all for the support you have given the local farming communities.
My farm lost some income and a few hundred plants that we have already replanted. All farmers are prepared for that kind of event. A farm that was totally flooded has lost possibly six months of income and the equipment they used to farm. Some livestock loss will take years to recover.

For those of you impacted by Hurricane Harvey AND those wanting to support Texas farmers...

So many Texas farmers, ranchers and gardeners have been affected by Hurricane Harvey along with everyone along the Texas coast. TOFGA is gathering information and resources on how our community can help the farming community to rebuild after the storm. One of those ways is to donate to TOFGA's disaster relief fund. Read more about how you can help:

Farmers have been hit hard. Close to the coast, there was nowhere for the water to go. Even the best scenario is a couple weeks of lost income. Support the local farmers and tell your friends to do the same.
