The FDA said today that Bayer will no longer sell or distribute its Essure permanent birth control device in the US, effective December 31.

FDA Commissioner Scott Gottlieb said the action follows a “series of earlier actions that the FDA took to address the reports of serious adverse events associated with its use,” according to an FDA release.

“For women who have received an Essure implant, the postmarket safety of Essure will continue to be a top priority for the FDA. We expect Bayer to meet its postmarket obligations concerning this device,” Gottlieb said in a prepared statement.

Amid lawsuits and plummeting sales for its Essure birth control device, drug giant Bayer announced Friday that it would cease U.S. sales of the product by the end of 2018.

"This decision is based on a decline in U.S. sales of Essure in recent years and the conclusion that the Essure business is no longer sustainable," Bayer said in a statement. The United States was the last country in which Bayer marketed Essure, the Washington Post noted.

Pharmaceutical giant Bayer said Friday that it will halt sales of its controversial Essure birth-control device in the United States at the end of the year, bringing to a close a protracted battle over an implant that thousands of women blame for serious problems, including persistent pain and perforations of the uterus and fallopian tubes.

Hello - I am just now watching the documentary called “the bleeding edge.” I am desperate for information because I can’t find it online anywhere -

Does anyone know if the nexplanon/implanon birth control can break apart in your arm removal and cause countless issues? I have had so many problems that are similar, even though it’s a different route of implant.

The bleeding Edge on Netflix and it's relevance to Essure is a drop in the bucket in comparison to what is wrong with companies in America. CEO's who commit harm knowingly to people and get off with oh it's just "white collar crimes" should be properly executed. Hell the Chinese government will execute a CEO of a dog food company for killing animals by causing kidney disease.

Im so tired want to give up aint got the help financially mentally or physical i cant keep trying to get up every morning and no doctor wants to help PLZ stop the freaking pain
Reading up on the essure side effects and of them is woman complaining of dizzy spells.. I still get them amd sometimes I feel like they are worse but no one wants to look in to this they just mark it off as an inner ear problem.. All ik is this is ruining my life I'm afraid to drive or pick my son up or get down and play with them I want my life back
