Our deepest condolences to the family, friends and coworkers of TROOPER MICHAEL E. PAHIRA!

The City of Washington Police Department extends its deepest condolences to the Pennsylvania State Police and the family, friends, and colleagues of Trooper Michael E. Pahira, who tragically lost his life in the line of duty today, July 1, 2026.

Trooper Pahira dedicated more than two decades of service to the citizens of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. His commitment to public safety and his willingness to place himself in harm's way for others exemplified the highest ideals of law enforcement.

Today, we join agencies across Pennsylvania and the nation in mourning this tremendous loss. We ask our community to keep Trooper Pahira's loved ones, his fellow troopers, and all members of the Pennsylvania State Police in their thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.

The risks faced by law enforcement officers each day are often unseen, but tragedies such as this serve as a solemn reminder of the sacrifices made in service to others.

Rest in peace, Trooper Michael E. Pahira. Your service, dedication, and sacrifice will never be forgotten.

With profound sadness, the North Fayette Police Department announces the unexpected passing of Sergeant Todd Heufelder. Sergeant Heufelder was a distinguished and dedicated employee who faithfully served this department and our community for 30 years. During his career, Sergeant Heufelder served as a Patrol Supervisor and created the department’s K9 program. During his tenure, Sergeant Heufelder demonstrated exceptional commitment, professionalism, and devotion to duty.

We are deeply saddened by this loss, and our prayers are with Sergeant Heufelder’ s family, friends, colleagues, and all those whose lives he touched. His service, dedication, and legacy will not be forgotten.

Please join us in welcoming Officer Christopher Bioni back to the Chartiers Township Police Department! After relocating to the South, Officer Bioni has returned home and rejoined our department. We couldn’t be happier to have him back serving our community once again.

A scam that has been brought to our attention:
Individual(s) posing as vendors at the Washington County Fair are offering Vendor opportunities for the upcoming Washington County Fair. They are asking for money to be transferred to them by electronic means, this is currently being done by a fraudulent email. The Washington County Fair has a formal application process which is not online, by email, or phone. If you have sent money to any persons impersonating vendors, please contact your bank and local police.
