Welcome to Troop 599, located at Memorial Drive United Methodist Church in Houston, Texas. Founded i Troop meetings start at 7:30pm.
Founded in 1967, Troop 599 is a large Boy Scout Troop with over 40 years of Scouting done right. While adults do provide much guidance to Scouts, Troop 599 is proud to be a boy-run, boy-led Troop. The Troop's large size gives Scouts more opportunities to have fun, and more importantly teaches Scouts vital leadership skills by having to work with each other as part of a large organization. Troop 59

Troop 599 Philmont shakedown hike #2
Thunderbirds are flying home! Enjoy these before and after troop photo, and check remind for updates on arrival time.
Good morning TBird family. Only 24 hours to go, so our boys are busy checking in with all their merit badge classes to make sure they have completed the requirements as planned. This afternoon will be one last chance to participate in the aquatics and ranges activities, and then we start packing up.
We also saw those weird red birds again. They are all over camp. No one still knows how they manage to follow us every year, but clearly they like to hang out at the same places our scouts do!
Things are heating up at for the t-birds. Boys are learning all sorts of things in the 200+ merit badge classes they are taking. The fish are hungry by our campsite. Our Staff raised the flags for camp this morning and made the troop incredibly proud with a crisp ceremony. Also, there are now so many of these odd wild thunderbirds that have appeared overnight. And only a few have been domesticated. Thunderbirds are flying high and proud at this Top Gun Themed camp. Please see Shutterfly for so many other photos
A quick hello from the boys waiting for their staff to perform the flag ceremony for the camp. Our staff did an amazing job! It’s another gorgeous day at
After Dinner, the camp holds many inter troop activities, which change every night. You would need to be at camp for a month to be able to do it all.
Last night was “Possum Fest”, a welcome bash with “the blob” canoeing, kayaking and sundaes.
Tonight, we have open aquatics, cowboy action and archery action, which are fun, shoot/aim gallery competitions. two of our ASMs are taking NRA range training so they can become certified NRA range supervisors for events like King Ranch and camporee. They spend almost all day and evening at training, so make sure to say thanks to Giselle and Hodge when they get off the bus!
in the meantime, due to the amount of photos, I will upload most to the troop Shutterfly page.
Boys are settling in to their merit badge classes. We are enjoying lots of sun but comfortable cool nights. Trying to take lots of photos, but the only WiFi/signal is at mess hall. I have a bunch of photos to upload and hope to get them up by tonight. There are so many activities and classes going on, it’s like the Pokémon slogan: Gotta catch ‘em all!
Thunderbirds enjoyed a gorgeous sunset and some dusk time fishing by our campsite. After Reveille, the Rams got table duty and we noticed a strange non-native red bird hanging around the mess hall at flag ceremony. All scouts are now attending their merit badge classes.
Settling in at Camp Constantin. Epic view for Campfire 🔥
We are on our way to Camp Constantin. Stay tuned to this page for updates and photos
