This Labor Day remember that we are doing what it takes to make this all different. Black Mamas more than MATTER & always have.

Reposted from @sayhernamehtx We would like to extend all of the gratitude to everyone that showed up in person and virtually for Black Mothers Matter: Raising Awareness for Black Maternal Mortality Rates. We especially wish to thank our speakers: Kay, CEO and founder of @shadesofblueproject, Asayah, doula and founder of Your Labor of Love (page in bio), and Sasha, doula and founder of @massage.momma.

Huge shoutout to @purphouston for their partnership in organizing this protest. There are multiple Black Lives More Than Matter protests still happening this weekend, so please check out their Instagram page for more details.

There is still much work to be done to eradicate the disproportionate rates of black maternal mortality in this country, so learn how to take action at bit.ly/saveblackmothers(link in bio).

We will be showing a Clip of Baby Blue during our When Black Mamas Gather Conversation today Thank you @kimfieldsofficial
@screenwriteher_ for Uplifting awareness around Black Maternal Mental Health #makingshifthappen

Reposted from @screenwriteher_ I wrote about postpartum depression and postpartum psychosis because Black maternal health has been on my mind and heart, heavy lately. 🥺 I need people to humanize Black women and Black mothers — we are not unbreakable superheroes that can/should endure anything thrown our way. WE ARE HUMAN BEINGS.💫 ⁣

With this script, I wanted to personify how the “Strong Black Woman” trope is mentally and physically harmful, especially in motherhood where Black women aren’t often afforded softness, pain, vulnerability, or rest — the burden of being “strong” and over-glorification of a Black woman’s “strength” is quite literally, killing us.⁣

Make sure to watch 𝐁𝐀𝐁𝐘 𝐁𝐋𝐔𝐄 on @bethertv , tomorrow July 25th at 9/8c ✨💚⁣

We invite you to join us for our Congressional Briefing as we prepare for Black Maternal Mental Health Week. Save the Date July 14th as we continue to bring awareness to a much needed topic of discussion.

Statistics show that Black women in the U.S. are 3x – 5x as likely to die from a pregnancy-related causes than their white counterparts. Missing from the equation is how these same women experience a maternal mental health complication after their adverse maternal outcome. This briefing will explore the perspectives/experiences of Black women to reduce these adverse mental health outcomes.

The collateral (body count) of getting people to understand that Black Lives Matter is sadenning to say the least. I Hate that because of these numerous lives loss is the only reason why some of us are now being seen. My Next IMMEDIATE Call to Action is as follows..
Now you See US start today by ACTIVELY LISTENING TO US, INCLUDING US, Truly PARTNERING and WORKING WITH US and PAYING US for OUR WORK. One thing I'm 100% Sure of You Can Not Help US Without US. Take this time to
1. Self-Check (address your personal bias)
2.Evaluate your Policies and Procedures 3.Make the immediate necessary changes
If the change that needs to happen has any chance of becoming a reality their is No more time to delay. In order to ensure that we are not continuing to live in a world where everyday the constraints of the past, live in the future and continue to assure that we are both Figuratively and Literally dying to Breathe...... #makeshifthappen

Maternal Mental Health Complications is not something new but it is certainly something that is not acknowledge enough as a issue in our communities This must change now and not later. At this point it's being passive to say It's OK to Not be OK because honestly women deserve more action behind this. If I'm not Ok and that's Ok then Help me get to where I am Ok or better. I've said Black Mamas Matter is deeper than you'll ever know This is some of what I mean...... This Call to Action has been and will continue to be our mission.
The lack of maternal mental health support that is non-existent after giving birth no matter the outcome is ridiculous. The Shades of Blue Project created Black Maternal Mental Health Week for this very reason. As we progress into our 2nd year this year's theme is Acknowledge, Respect and Support our Black Mamas Maternal Mental Health. Now more than ever we need to take these step for our mamas mental health during and after giving birth. Let's all make this different together. We are in immense pain for our babies we birth that come into a world of hate and grow up in this same world and based on the embedded racism of others their lives become disposable. Non- Black people imagine if you couldn’t breathe for 9 minutes NOW Imagine living your whole life not being able to BREATHE. The knee on George Floyd neck on May 25, 2020 we are feeling that like never before, the cry for his Mama in his last breathe: his peace, his need for comfort WE ARE FEELING THAT. WE CAN’T BREATHE IS MORE THAN A STATEMENT. This is WHY BLACK MAMAS MATTER is deeper than you will ever know because somebody is depending on us like THEIR LAST BREATHE. We need US right now my commitment to US has never wavered and in a time where our mental stability is on the edge of a cliff I’m right there with you Sistar you are NOT ALONE. THIS IS MY PERSONAL CALL TO ACTION The Hugs I’m giving you today I aim to bring you comfort when and where needed.

Hi guys, I work with Positive Health Publications, Inc. and we have a new magazine that I would like to let you know about. It's titled Overcoming Addiction magazine. It’s digital - so it's internet-based. It's bi-monthly. The editorial focus is for those dealing with substance addiction and their families, friends and loved ones. It's also free. As with our other magazines, our goal is to be positive, supportive and self-help oriented. Our intention is certainly not to replace professional counseling and healthcare but to work hand-in-hand to enhance the experience. We are not affiliated with any rehab, healthcare organization, insurance group, pharmaceutical company - and we don't have an agenda. I hope you like it and if you do, please recommend that your clients and co-workers give it a read. If this is not ok to post please feel free to delete the post. Thank you!! Please feel free to check it out at http://www.overcomingaddictionmagazine.com/current-issue/.
