Emphasis: Drug Trafficking Arrests

On August 24, 2026, Texas County deputies in coordination with the South Central Drug Task Force and Houston Police Department K-9 team conducted a traffic stop on a drug trafficking suspect. The stop was initiated at approximately 7:34 PM, after deputies observed an equipment violation on the suspect vehicle near the intersection of Route C & Route CC north of Licking. During the traffic stop the drug detection dog gave a positive alert for the presence of controlled substances and a search of the vehicle was conducted. During the search deputies located methamphetamine and fentanyl. The occupants of the vehicle Payton Mordis, Thomas Stanton and Macie Mitchell-Hayes were arrested for drug trafficking. Mordis also had an active arrest warrant for probation violation related to drug trafficking. Mordis was later found to have more fentanyl concealed on her person. The suspects were transported to the Texas County Jail.
Texas County Prosecuting Attorney Parke Stevens charged Payton N. Mordis, age 33, of Licking with Trafficking Drugs (2 counts) and tampering with physical evidence. Mordis was incarcerated in the Texas County Jail pending a $10,000 cash only bond per Judge Ellsworth. Thomas L. Stanton, age 27, of Houston was charged with Trafficking Drugs (2 counts) and tampering with physical evidence. Stanton was incarcerated pending a $7,500 cash only bond per Judge Ellsworth. Macie D. Mitchell-Hayes, age 35 of Licking, was charged with Trafficking Drugs (2 counts) and tampering with physical evidence. Mitchell-Hayes was incarcerated pending $7,500 cash only bond per Judge Ellsworth.
The South Central Drug Task Force is a multi-jurisdictional task force consisting of local law enforcement agencies coordinated by the Missouri State Highway Patrol. The Texas County Sheriff’s Office employs a deputy sheriff assigned to the drug task force. The sheriff's office received additional assistance from the Licking Police Department.

Hello! My name is Mike Huffman, and I am honored to serve as your new School Resource Officer for the Raymondville School District.

Texas County has always been home to me. I grew up in the Summersville and Hartshorn areas and have dedicated my career to serving and protecting this community. I began my law enforcement career in 2003 as a Deputy Sheriff with the Texas County Sheriff's Department. From 2006 to 2008, I served as a Patrol Officer for the City of Houston before returning to the Sheriff's Department. In 2018, I joined the Willow Springs Police Department, where I served as a Patrol Officer and later as a Sergeant and Investigator. I returned to the Texas County Sheriff's Department in 2021, most recently serving as a Court Security Deputy.

I am incredibly excited about this new chapter and look forward to building strong, positive relationships with our students, staff, and families while helping ensure a safe learning environment for everyone.

NEWS RELEASE #26-07

Emphasis: Drugs & Weapon Arrest

On July 24, 2026, a Texas County Deputy on patrol in the Summersville area observed a Honda Civic traveling on Stoops Road that did not have license plates displayed. The deputy initiated a traffic stop on the vehicle. Upon contacting the driver, Lenny Hebert Junior, it was determined that Hebert did not have a drivers license or insurance for the vehicle. While speaking with Hebert, he advised the deputy he had a firearm in the vehicle and was currently on parole. A search of the vehicle led to the discovery of the firearm, drug paraphernalia, and a substance that tested positive for Methamphetamine. Hebert was arrested and transported to the Texas County Jail.
Texas County Prosecuting Attorney Parke Stevens charged Lenny J. Hebert Junior, age 38, of Summersville with Unlawful Possession of a Firearm (Felon), Possession of a Controlled Substance, Unlawful Use of a Weapon (Possession of firearm and controlled substance), Driving While Revoked/Suspended, Operate Motor Vehicle without financial responsibility. Hebert was incarcerated in the Texas County Jail pending a $6,000 cash only bond per Judge Ellsworth.

Emphasis: Domestic Assault Arrest

On July 25, 2026, Texas County deputies responded to a residence on Hog Creek Road, in the Houston area for a domestic disturbance. A female subject reported that the suspect had picked her up at a business in Cabool and they traveled to Raymondville. The victim reported while in the vehicle a male identified as Clarence Hall punched and choked her. The victim was eventually able to exit the vehicle and returned to the residence on Hog Creek Road. The victim reported that Hall came to the residence and again punched and choked her. Deputies observed visible injuries to the victim consistent with an assault. The suspect Clarence Hall was interviewed and admitted to causing the victim’s injuries and choking her. Deputies arrested Hall and transported him to the Texas County Jail.
Texas County Prosecuting Attorney Parke Stevens charged Clarence Hall, age 34, of Houston with Domestic Assault 2nd degree. Hall was incarcerated in the Texas County Jail pending a $5,000 cash only bond per Judge Ellsworth.

Missing Juvenile: , age 17 voluntarily walked away from a residence on Boiling Springs Road on Friday July 10. is approximately 6’01, 100 lbs, last seen wearing a red shirt, black pants and having a backpack.
