Be aware of today’s severe weather!
The National Weather Service has expanded the enhanced area for severe weather today. Spring is in the enhanced area for rain and thunderstorms that could become strong to severe in the mid-morning to early afternoon. Stay weather aware as damaging wind gusts, hail, heavy rain and isolated tornadoes are possible with this system.
Our deepest condolences go out to the family and friends of Forest Bend Fire Department’s Chief, John Norris.

Join us for a commemoration of Chief Norris's legacy at New Hope Church, 108 W Edgewood Dr, Friendswood, TX 77546 on Saturday, December 2, 2023. The visitation will be held from 10:00 am to 11:00 am, followed by a heartfelt service starting at 11:00 am.
Following the service, a reception will be held at the Friendswood Volunteer Fire Department, 1610 Whitaker, Friendswood, TX 77546. It will be a time to share cherished memories, stories, and embrace the spirit of a man who left an indelible mark on our hearts and community.
Chief Norris's impact on the Forest Bend Fire Department and beyond will forever be remembered and cherished. Let us come together in remembrance, honoring his legacy of bravery, dedication, and selflessness.
Your presence and support during this time of reflection and celebration are deeply appreciated by Chief Norris's family, friends, and the community he served with unwavering devotion.

To avoid scalds from hot steam or fluids, keep children at least 3 feet away when cooking hot dishes. And always remember to turn off the oven and burners when you're finished cooking to avoid accidents.

Update: Press Briefing on Plant fire in Shepherd, TX.
The Harris County Hazardous Materials Response Team is on scene assisting with the chemical plant fire.
HCFMO investigators conducted an origin and cause investigation into a commercial fire. Ponderosa Fire Dept. received the call at approx. 2:45 am. 1 adult and 3 children were transported in to The hospital in stable condition for smoke inhalation.
Investigators determined the fire was caused by electrical failure.

Cooking equipment-related home fires tend to be at their highest on Thanksgiving more than any other day of the year!
Take precautions as you celebrate the holiday with your loved ones and cherished traditions.
Avoid leaving the stove or oven unattended. Keep pot handles turned inward, and ensure children stay at least 3 feet away from kitchen appliances.
Lastly, always have a fire extinguisher within reach in case of a grease fire.
As you set your clocks back one hour for , take a moment to inspect your smoke alarms as well!
Press the "Test" button to ensure your smoke alarm works properly.
Replace smoke alarms that are over 10 years old.
Remember - Smoke alarms save lives!

Our team had the opportunity to attend NASA’s annual Safety & Health Day. Their event theme was, “Be a Superhero- Be the Difference; Protect Yourself and Others.” HCFMO was able to give valuable fire and life safety tips and information to those that work within the Johnson Space Center.

Reminder: Burn Ban Remains in Effect Despite some light rainfall in parts of unincorporated #HarrisCounty, the hot and dry weather conditions persist. Unfortunately, the limited rain has not been enough to alleviate the ongoing effects of the heat. As a result, the burn ban will remain in place.

Today, HCFMO participated in @westlake_fd Junior Fire Academy! K9 Handler Tessier explained how K9 Delta assists in investigations and the hazmat team allowed the cadets tour a couple of our trucks.
The Harris County Fire Marshal’s Office and Crime Stoppers of Houston need the public’s assistance in providing any information identifying the three men in the video and images below. The incident happened on July 4, 2022 at approximately 10:30 p.m. at Top Dog Fireworks Warehouse located at 14424 East Freeway, Houston, Texas 77015. One of the suspects was seen igniting a firework inside of the store. They stole approximately $200 worth of fireworks during the evacuation. Crime Stoppers will pay up to $5,000 for information leading to felony charges or an arrest of the suspect(s) in this case. Information may be reported by calling (713) 222-TIPS (8477) or submitting tips online at www.crime-stoppers.org. All tipsters remain anonymous.
