SBA initiatives

Celebrated each year on the Saturday after Thanksgiving, #SmallBusinessSaturday allows consumers to make an impact in their neighborhoods by supporting local small businesses. Last year, an estimated 110 million U.S. consumers shopped small on Small Business Saturday. This year, we know small businesses need our support now more than ever as they navigate, retool and pivot from the effects of the coronavirus pandemic.

For more information on Small Business Saturday, visit www.sba.gov/saturday and be sure to #supportlocal and #shoplocal!

Our Story

The Southwest Management District was created by the Texas Legislature in June 2005 to enhance the physical, social, and economic well being of the Southwest community. It is a governmental entity administered by a nine-member, all-volunteer board of directors. Projects and services of the district are funded through 6-cents per 100 hundred dollar HCAD evaluations assessment that generates approximately $1.2 million in annual revenue since 2014.

The Southwest Management District:

  • DOES NOT DUPLICATE City of Houston services… rather, the District provides services that the City of Houston does not provide.

  • IS recognized by HPD and other government services groups as one of the City’s MOST EFFICIENT management districts.
