Southwest District

Southwest District Located in the bustling southwest area of Houston, the Southwest District has something for everyone.

The Southwest Management District was created by the Texas Legislature in June 2005 to enhance the physical, social, and economic well being of the Southwest community. It is a governmental entity administered by a nine-member, all volunteer board of directors. Projects and services of the district are funded through 6-cents per 100 hundred dollar HCAD evaluations assessment that generates approxi

mately $1.2 million in annual revenue since 2014. The District of 10-square-miles is located in Harris County and is bordered by Hillcroft on the east, Beltway 8 on the west, Westpark Tollway on the north and U.S. 59 / Bissonnet on the south.

⚽🌎 The world’s game is coming to Houston, and the West Side is ready!

Council Member Tiffany Thomas joined community partners, residents, and local organizations at Southwest Management District’s First Kick event to celebrate the excitement surrounding FIFA and the opportunities it brings to Houston.

🎉⚽ Houston is ready for FIFA!

Council Member Twila Carter joined community members, local leaders, and Mayor Whitmire at Southwest Management District's First Kick event to celebrate the excitement leading up to FIFA World Cup festivities in Houston.

The event brought together residents from across the city for a day of soccer, community spirit, and anticipation for one of the world's biggest sporting events. As Houston prepares to welcome visitors from around the globe, events like these help showcase the energy and diversity that make our city special.

Attention, everyone! In Harris County, non-commercial vehicles are no longer required to undergo a safety inspection before registration. However, most still need to complete an emissions inspection. Harris County is one of the 17 counties that enforce this rule.

⚽ Mayor John Whitmire kicked off the First Kick Soccer Event—literally!

Hosted by the Southwest Management District and International District at the Alief Multi-Service Center, the event brought the community together to celebrate the love of soccer.

The Mayor encouraged residents to take advantage of the many ways to enjoy the excitement, including the free Fan Festival in , and highlighted the unity, diversity, and collaboration that make Houston a world-class host city.
With seven World Cup matches coming to Houston, we're proud to showcase our city on the global stage.

This event was coordinated by our Community Outreach and Government Affairs committee, chaired by Dawn Lin with support of the District's board and staff.

Big thank you to all the support from Westchase District, Spring Branch Management District, Tiffany D. Thomas, Council Member Twila Carter, Council Member Willie Davis and Independent School District.
