The gas leak at the Southwest Freeway and Shepherd has been mitigated with the freeway lanes re-opening. The southbound feeder road at Shepherd remains closed for repairs.

As July comes to a close, we want to invite you to our upcoming Disability Unity and Pride Celebration (DUPC) Thursday and Friday July 29th and 30th. The program will start at 6:30pm each evening and will be streamed live on the Houston MOPD page at Facebook.com/HoustonMOPD

This year's theme is Lifelines: The Love, Art and Advocacy that saves our lives. DUPC is our annual event of art and advocacy which celebrates disability culture, pride and the undying activism of disabled people which coincides with the anniversary of the American’s with Disabilities Act. Each night will feature performances by artists with disabilities and remarks from special guests. Mayor Sylvester Turner will also be presenting the 2021 Mayor’s Champion of Inclusion Awards on Friday July 30th.

We are very proud of this program and hope you will join in and celebrate Disability Pride Month with us!

Update regarding Centerpoint Substation Fire in NW Houston.

🚨Shelter-in-place updated details: issued for area North/Northwest of the facility, bordered by Clay, Gessner, Westview & Eldridge.

It has been determined that a transformer is on fire with class 4 mineral oil burning and is not a threat, however, a shelter in place is still in place for the area west of the substation to N. Eldridge Parkway. HFD is monitoring the air quality and currently deploying foam to control the fire.
