I’m saddened by the horrible situation in Lahaina. I confess I didn’t know much about the town other than a lyric from “The Last Resort” from the 1976 (monumental) album “Hotel California”. It is a haunting song which immediately affected me as a graduate architecture student, and became another layer of my environmental ‘onion’ in my career.
Don Henley ‘nailed’ our culture back then and we haven’t changed our ways. The lyrics are not for the faint of heart. “You can leave it all behind and sail to Lahaina…” and now this ironic catastrophe in the news.
