This week we are recognizing the "father of the third rail", Bion J Arnold pioneered street railways in numerous cities across the United States and helped bring electricity to NewYork's Grand Central Station. In addition to his work on railways, Arnold also invented a magnetic clutch and improved storage batteries. This week we are recognising former president of the AIEE and engineer, J. Allen Johnson. Johnson was responsible for many important features of the electrical design of the Niagara developments during the period of their rapid growth from 1918 to 1924. He was appointed chief electrical engineer of the Buffalo Niagara Eastern Power Corporation. Mr Johnson has contributed several important technical papers on subjects such as reactors in hydro electrical stations, fire protection in a.c generators and operating aspects of reactive power.He served as AIEE president from 1934 to 1935, which united with the IRE in 1963 to form the IEEE #IEEE #engineer #technology #UHCLIEEE
