We must ever be diligent in our service to children.
We must ever be diligent in our service to children.
Also, thanks to those of you who are gearing up to assist us as we help others. I look forward to assistance from my friends in New York, Esther Cross and her ministry, have reached out. The Salvation Army's David L Sincere Jr., extended his support even though he was evacuated from his residence in Sienna Plantation. And, Phillip G Polley, my friend from the Adventist Disaster Relief Agency (ADRA) in Maryland, thanks for the hook up with Adventist Community Services, in this area. My Burns SDA Church family in Detroit, I appreciate those who have reached out and look forward to your assistance. And, Winnie-mae Washington, Eldredge E. Washington, and all of the Atlanta crew, hats off to you for your help. Then, our Houston base, Rapha Community Initiatives and Unity Adventist Worship Center, let's put some walk behind our Christian talk and make a difference for our family and friends in need!!!
We cannot save the world. We cannot save Houston. We cannot save Texas. But, we can brighten the corner where we are. We have seen the devastation of Hurricane Harvey and we are trying to help those near us. I have spoken to several displaced families with children and they need help. I hope you will help us help them. Put packages together and send them to us and we will distribute them along with our own contributions!!! Rapha Village, 7003 Addicks Clodine, Houston, Texas 77083, www.raphacommunityinitiatives.org.
We have members who have lost everything and need basic clothes. So many are like that. Earlier today, my niece, Winnie Washington, called from Atlanta about how she and others can help victims of Harvey. I told her to collect items and send to our non-profit, Rapha Commumity Initiatives, for distribution. Our site is www.raphacommunityinitiatives.org. We will make sure your items get to folk in shelters in West Houston and Fort Bend County. All of your contributions are tax deductible including items. Our address is Rapha Village, 7003 Addicks Clodine, Houston, Texas 77083. We are in the area where Addicks Reservoir is being released. Send underwear, diapers, toiletries, cleaning supplies, etc. We will keep you abreast on our pages. Beginning tomorrow the phones will be manned. You can contact me here or email me directly at [email protected]. More info to come.
Merry Christmas to all of you. Remember there are many children who are sad because they are without their parents. A few weeks ago we had a family of six including five adopted children who lost their mother. Let's not forget to extend love to those who are without!
Strangers should not show more love to children than those who share their DNA. It is the great tragedy of life!
As citizens of the United States we enjoy lifestyles of remarkable wealth. Living without clean water, paved roads, cooled/heated homes, instant meals and more never cross our minds. Often times we forget that others are suffering when the media attention fades from situations such as the devastating earthquakes in Haiti. Just 6 years ago in 2004, one of the most devastating natural disasters hit South Asia & close to 250,000 people lost their lives. In 2005, Hurricane Katrina swept through the Gulf of Mexico causing more than $80 billion in damage and many states & families are yet to recover.
Always take time out to remember the great wealth that we have been granted! Enjoy & appreciate every moment that you have!
Join Rapha Community Initiatives, local businesses, our staff and more as we work to make a difference in the lives of children here and in other parts of the world.
Investing in our children is investing in their future as well as our own. Paying for their opportunities now is paying forward for your own opportunities later.
We are about touching the lives of children so that they can grow up to become healthy and productive adults.

Peaceful acts create Peace. Loving acts create Love. By acting we create our environment. What type of atmosphere are you creating? Regardless of what others do, we control the temperature gauge. When two opposing actions meet, consistency is the variable that determines domination.
We are joining with the African American Kidney Initiative to help our young people learn the importance of water in their everyday life. Director Calvin Roberson is a kidney donor and wants minorities to improve in this area. What are you doing to make a difference? You can always volunteer and help us help others!
Community Service projects being performed by two young men at Rapha Village the last two weeks. We hope to make a positive difference in their lives. What are you doing to make Alief and Houston a better place?
Today, we spent part of our day with 23 children in McClendon Park on Houston's west side. They had a good time and so did we.
We hope everyone's weekend is going well. We're in the process of developing a new initiative that will impact our community in an immense way. Our organization's mindset is similar to that of Center Rock, the small company that helped the miners escape in Chile. We may be a small organization, but we can do BIG THINGS. Support & Stay Tuned!
Thanks to a collaborative effort with the City of Houston Parks & Recreation Department we are feeding approximately 80 youth lunch & dinner via the Summer Food Service Program, Monday - Friday. If you know anyone 18 years old or under in the Alief area, let us know and we'll provide them with these meals as well.
There are several ways that you can contribute toward our efforts in the local Alief community & abroad. Our eBay Giving Works program is one of those ways. Have something to sell? Contribute a portion of your item's revenue to Rapha here:
