🚔Keeping Texas Roadways Safe During FIFA World Cup🚔

Over the course of a four-day traffic enforcement initiative, SETX District 2B Troopers worked tirelessly across I10 and U.S. 59 highways to help reduce crashes, deter criminal activity and keep travelers safe during increased traffic associated with FIFA World Cup events.

📊 Results from the four-day task force:

🔹3,230 traffic stops - including 3,435 warnings and 1,160 citations
🔹89 arrests
🔹Possession of Controlled Substance (POCS)-14
🔹Driving While Intoxicated (DWI)-16
🔹Driving While License Invalid (DWLI)-19
🔹Possession of Ma*****na-24
🔹Warrant-10
🔹Firearm Charge-4
🔹Evading-2

The goal of traffic enforcement is not about writing tickets - it’s changing dangerous behavior, preventing crashes, removing impaired drivers from the road, and stopping criminal activity before it harms innocent Texans.

Every stop is an opportunity to educate motorist, enforce the law and make our highways safer for everyone.

🌧️Rain is here, flooding is happening, and we need you to hear us loud and clear:

🚫 DO NOT drive though high water. Ever.
6 inches of water can stall your car. 12 inches can carry it away. Floodwater doesn’t care!

🔄 Turn Around, Don’t Drown.
Find another route. Call someone. Wait it out. Do anything except drive into high water.

Your life is worth more than getting to your location.

Stay Safe Texas!

⚽️🚔 As travel increases during the FIFA World Cup, don't be alarmed if you see an increased presence of Troopers along our major highways.

Troopers from across the state have come together to help reduce crashes, keep traffic moving safely, and deter criminal activity. Our goal is simple: keep Texans and visitors safe as they travel our roadways.

If you see a law enforcement, fire, EMS, tow truck, or Texas Department of Transportation vehicle stopped on the roadside with emergency lights 🚨 activated, remember to Move Over or Slow Down. It's not only courteous - it's the law and it saves lives!

✔️ Move over when it's safe to do so
✔️ If you can't move over, slow down to 20 mph below the posted speed limit
✔️ Stay alert and avoid distractions

Drive like a Texan. Safe, Courteous, and Responsible.

Polk County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Division Executes Search Warrant, Discovers Indoor Ma*****na Grow Operation

On June 10, 2026, the Polk County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Division, with assistance from the Patrol Division, Criminal Investigation Division, and the Texas Department of Public Safety Criminal Investigation Division, executed a search warrant at a residence located off FM 943 in Livingston, Polk County, Texas.

During the ex*****on of the search warrant, investigators located a sophisticated indoor ma*****na grow operation on the property. Investigators recovered an amount of ma*****na greater than 50 pounds but less than 2,000 pounds. The estimated street value of the ma*****na is approximately $100,000.

One of the residents located at the home, identified as Alexander Vega, admitted to growing the ma*****na. Vega was arrested and charged with Possession of Ma*****na, greater than 50 pounds but less than 2,000 pounds, a second-degree felony.

Due to the potential risks associated with chemicals and materials commonly used in indoor ma*****na grow operations, members of the State’s Methamphetamine Initiative Group (MIG), a Houston HIDTA initiative, responded to assist with the removal of the ma*****na plants and to help identify chemicals located on the property.

During the course of the investigation, additional names were discovered, and more suspects may be charged in relation to this case as the investigation continues.

The Polk County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Division has also initiated asset forfeiture proceedings and intends to seek seizure of the land, residences, and two vehicles believed to have been used in furtherance of the grow operation.

Statement from Sheriff Byron Lyons:
“This investigation is another example of the dedication and persistence of our Narcotics Division and our law enforcement partners. Indoor grow operations are not simple ma*****na cases. These operations can involve large amounts of drugs, dangerous chemicals, electrical hazards, and organized criminal activity. Our office will continue to aggressively investigate narcotics trafficking in Polk County and hold those responsible accountable.”

Statement from Chief Deputy Anthony Lowrie:
“The successful ex*****on of this search warrant reflects strong teamwork between our Narcotics Division, Patrol Division, Criminal Investigation Division, and our partners with the Texas Department of Public Safety. These cases require coordination, planning, and attention to safety due to the risks involved with indoor grow operations. We remain committed to disrupting drug trafficking operations and protecting the citizens of Polk County.”

This investigation remains ongoing. Additional charges may be filed as more evidence is reviewed.

All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

🚗 Before you travel, check your tires.

Your tires are the only part of your vehicle that touches the road. Vehicle maintenance is just as important as safe driving.

📸 Pictured is a vehicle that sustained a blow out and the driver lost control.

A few minutes spent inspecting your vehicle can help prevent a crash and keep you and your family safe.

✔️check tire tread depth and condition
✔️Inspect for cracks, bulges, or uneven wear
✔️ Ensure tires are properly inflated
✔️ Don’t ignore vibration or handling issues
✔️ Make sure your spare tire is ready if needed
✔️Remember that during extreme heat can increase tire pressure and place additional stress on worn tires

Safe travel starts before you put the vehicle and drive 🚗💨
