⚠️JUST IN⚠️ -- Hurricane #Zeta quickly intensifying. Max winds at 85mph. Now forecast to be a Category 2 at landfall this afternoon with max winds of 100mph.

For southeast Louisiana & south Mississippi -- this is not a drill. Rush last minute preparations to completion. Don’t take this storm lightly. Make sure you have all of your preparations finished before 11AM, as conditions will quickly deteriorate this afternoon/evening.

Mid day/evening into the overnight is going to be a hunker down & "shelter in place" type of deal for southeast Louisiana & south Mississippi.

Be prepared for widespread power outages & trees down in Hurricane Warning areas. Likely to be the most significant wind event for the area since Isaac in 2012, when NOLA clocked 80-85mph wind gusts. Unlike Isaac though, #Zeta will be moving quickly, and most substantial wind impacts will only last 3-6 hours total.

Winds will quickly ramp up from 1PM-6PM across the area, with the system out of our area by 11PM.

Be aware, even after the storm is passed, power lines and trees could be knocked down. So, I would encourage you to not venture out until Thursday morning once the sun comes up!

Make sure you follow me on Instagram & Twitter too. I'm on live on WGNO all morning.

🚨🚨 Update on Hurricane Delta 🚨🚨

Please see below from Meteorologist Scott Pilie. Good news is, many have evacuated the area, so if the water does rise, the need for rescue should be small. Civilian Search and Rescue organizations are already in the area, and the rest of us are on standby for possible deployment. We will also assist with cleanup and debri removal after Delta passes, as we were for Laura.

Stay tuned for more updates on Hurricane Delta 🚨

⚠️JUST IN⚠️ -- Hurricane Delta remains a large, powerful Category 3 hurricane with max winds of 120mph. Finish last minute preparations along the southwest Louisiana coast, as conditions will begin deteriorating later this morning.

No major track changes with slight shift east with landfall expected along eastern Cameron Parish/Vermilion Parish this evening as a Category 2.

Could it still trend slightly east or west by ~20-30 miles? Yes, we will watch wobbles. But, drastic shifts not expected.

Huge wind field with Hurricane #Delta. Hurricane force winds extend 40 miles from the center while tropical storm force winds extend outward over 160 miles from the center.

Remember, just because the system’s center may not impact you doesn’t mean you won’t see impacts well east of where its center comes onshore.

Delta’s greatest impacts will stay to our west in Acadiana and southwest Louisiana. Hurricane conditions likely from Lake Charles to Lafayette. 75-90mph gusts & power outages likely likely. Power outages likely in Acadiana/southwest Louisiana from Breaux Bridge to Lake Charles. 7-11ft of storm surge from Rockefeller Refuge to Vermilion Bay.

In southeast Louisiana, we are still expecting impacts. Main risks in southeast Louisiana & New Orleans Metro: tornado threat late Friday-overnight Friday, 25-50+mph wind gusts, 1-3” of rainfall. We will monitor for localized higher amounts.

Tropical storm force gusts are still likely on the projected path all the way to Metro New Orleans. Sporadic power outages are a possibility, mainly in the Bayou/River Parishes towards Baton Rouge.

⚠️TROPICAL DEPRESSION 26⚠️ — One to watch very closely. Depression growing more organized in the Western Caribbean. Tropical Storm #Delta likely to form later today, with growing potential for hurricane strike to the Gulf Coast late week.

Official NHC forecast brings Delta to a Category 2 Hurricane with max winds of 105mph on a path towards Louisiana by Friday. Would not surprise me to see this reach Major Hurricane intensity in the Central Gulf before slight weakening on approach to land.

Cone of uncertainty ranges from the FL Panhandle to the TX/LA border. Remember, the average 4 and 5 day NHC track forecast error is 160-200 miles. This track is not set in stone,

Plenty of question marks remain as to exactly where this system will go & what strength the system will be. Environment in the Gulf & Caribbean does look indicative of strengthening. Some models quite bullish on intensity, but high uncertainty in the intensity forecast remains. I always say, prepare for one category above the forecast, just in case.

Water temperatures in the northern Gulf have cooled significantly over the last 3 weeks due to Hurricane Sally churning up the water & recent cold fronts. This is good news, but it doesn't mean to let your guard down.

Water temps still supportive of hurricane development, but the cooler northern Gulf water would likely hinder further intensification & possibly weaken a system slightly as it moves in the northern Gulf. Still bears close watching...as central/southern Gulf water is still plenty warm for hurricane formation.

Review your hurricane preparation plans. Be ready to put them into action.

Hurricane conditions are expected to begin within the hurricane warning area later this evening. Tropical storm conditions are already occurring in portions of the warning areas, and will continue through Wednesday night. Preparations to protect life and property should be completed.

A few tornadoes may occur through Wednesday across portions of the Florida Panhandle and southern Alabama. For storm information specific to your area, including possible inland watches and warnings, please monitor products issued by your local National Weather Service forecast office - www.weather.gov

At 7 p.m. CDT, the center of Hurricane Sally was located about 75 miles (125 km) south of Mobile, Alabama, and about 75 miles (125 km) southwest of Pensacola, Florida. Sally is moving toward the north near 2 mph (4 km/h). A slow northward motion is expected tonight, followed by a slow north-northeastward to northeastward motion on Wednesday and Wednesday night. A slightly faster northeastward motion is expected on Thursday. On the forecast track, the center of Sally will approach the northern Gulf Coast tonight, and make landfall in the hurricane warning area late tonight or Wednesday. Sally is expected to move inland across southeastern Alabama Wednesday night and Thursday.

Maximum sustained winds are near 80 mph (130 km/h) with higher gusts - a category 1 hurricane on the Saffir-Simpson Hurricane Wind Scale. Hurricane-force winds extend outward up to 40 miles (65 km) from the center and tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 125 miles (205 km). A sustained wind of 55 mph (89 km/h) and a gust to 70 mph (113 km/h) were recently reported at Petit Bois Island,
Mississippi. A sustained wind of 54 mph (87 km/h) and a gust to 66 mph (106 km/h) were recently reported on Dauphin Island, Alabama. Little change in strength is forecast until landfall occurs, and Sally is expected to be a dangerous hurricane when it moves onshore along the north-central Gulf Coast.

The combination of a dangerous storm surge and the tide will cause normally dry areas near the coast to be flooded by rising waters moving inland from the shoreline. The water could reach the following heights above ground somewhere in the indicated areas if the peak surge occurs at the time of high tide...
- Dauphin Island, AL to AL/FL State Line incl. Mobile Bay...4-6 ft
- Mouth of the Mississippi River to Mouth of the Pearl River including Lake Borgne...3-5 ft
- MS/AL State Line to Dauphin Island, AL...3-5 ft
- AL/FL State Line to Okaloosa/Walton County Line, FL including Pensacola Bay and Choctawhatchee Bay...3-5 ft
- Mouth of the Pearl River to MS/AL Border...2-4 ft
- Lake Pontchartrain and Lake Maurepas...2-4 ft
- Okaloosa/Walton County Line, FL to Chassahowitzka, FL including Saint Andrews Bay...1-3 ft
- Grand Isle, LA to Mouth of the Mississippi River...1-3 ft

Sally is forecast to produce 10 to 20 inches of rainfall, with isolated amounts of 30 inches, along and just inland of the central Gulf Coast from the Florida Panhandle west of the Apalachicola River to far southeastern Mississippi. Historic life-threatening flash flooding is likely. In addition, this rainfall will lead to widespread moderate to major flooding on area rivers.

The next complete advisory will be issued by NHC at 10 p.m. CDT - www.hurricanes.gov

About Us!

Born from 2017’s Hurricane Harvey, we are a volunteer Search and Rescue Team that specializes in the aid of natural disasters. We started as a husband and wife team operation in the early hours of Harvey and have now grown into a volunteer dispatching team of 20+ individuals equipped with search and rescue volunteers.

Brittmoore Rescue aids in relief, for families affected by natural disasters.

When Harvey penetrated Houston’s 1,000-year flood plain, 3% of the population possessed flood insurance. Although organizations help assist in funds for some of the families, thousands have been left displaced, and attempting to rebuild on their own. We raise funds for these families through fundraising events, and donations from our tight knit, “Houston Strong”, community.
