The Elite Award recognizes employees, volunteers, and students who consistently go above and beyond to provide exceptional customer service while living out our WE CARE values each and every day.

Bob was nominated by a TCMH staff member who wanted to recognize his kindness, compassion, and dedication to our patients.

The staff member shared that Bob came in on his day off, a Saturday, to take a patient home in the Medivan. The patient was wheelchair-bound and had no other transportation. Knowing the patient and her situation, Bob was willing to come in and help.

This thoughtful act is a wonderful example of what it means to go above and beyond. 💙

We are excited to announce that Forest Nunnery, RN, is a 2026 DAISY Award nominee at TCMH! 💙

The DAISY Award honors nurses who demonstrate excellent clinical skills, leadership, extraordinary patient care and compassion. 🩺❤️

Forest was nominated by Paul Schaefer, DO, TCMH emergency room physician, who shared:

“Forest was working as a float nurse in the emergency room and was assisting with a dementia patient who needed to go for a CT scan. The patient was anxious and restless. Forest stayed by her side, keeping her calm and talking with her about her life, helping to keep her from becoming more restless so the scan could be completed. He showed extreme compassion and patience with this lady.”

✨ TCMH Hospice of Care is looking for compassionate volunteers to help bring comfort, companionship, and support to patients and families when they need it most.

You don’t have to be a medical professional. You just need a caring heart and a willingness to help.

Volunteers may:

📖 Read, visit, or simply listen
🍲 Prepare a meal or lend a helping hand
🛍️ Run errands or assist with everyday needs

🚌 Exploring Houston’s Progress, Possibilities & Future! 🏘️🌟

TCMH was honored to host the luncheon last Thursday for the City of Houston Economic Development Committee as community leaders came together for a bus tour highlighting Houston’s progress, celebrating recent developments, and discussing future needs, opportunities and dreams for our community. 💙

The tour brought together Houston community leaders and partners, including State Senator Brad Hudson and State Representative Bennie Cook.

🤝 It was a great opportunity to see firsthand what Houston has accomplished, recognize the people and organizations helping our community grow, and look ahead at what’s possible for the future.

When our community works together, great things happen! 💙🏡✨

🦌🌿 Learning More About Alpha-Gal! 🌿🦌

On Wednesday, TCMH hosted an Alpha-Gal Lunch & Learn, with nearly 60 community members joining us to learn more about living with this challenging diagnosis.

🩺 TCMH Dietitian Jason Edwards did an outstanding job explaining Alpha-Gal, including foods to avoid and tips to help prevent negative reactions. A huge thank you, Jason, for sharing your knowledge and helping our community better understand this condition!

👏 Special thanks to Steve Blankenship and Mary Roderick from our dietary department for providing a delicious Alpha-Gal/Gluten-Free luncheon, and to Angel Wells, with the Texas County Health Department for partnering with us and providing tick-removal kits and repellent wipes for attendees.

💙 We love our community and hope this information helps those living with Alpha-Gal enjoy life a little more confidently!
