In response to the climate crisis, the American Red Cross is enhancing its support for those who need it most and its capacity to respond to the continuous pace of climate disasters. One of the organization’s new initiatives — the Community Adaptation Program — is focused on strengthening local partner networks in communities with chronic disaster risks and socioeconomic issues. To boost disaster preparedness and resilience, the Red Cross is working with hyper-local partners that focus on increasing access to food, health and housing resources.

South, TX Holidag Party
Our South, TX volunteers had a great time at the Holiday party, eating good food and caroling.
Join donors like Brett and Brian and make donating blood a tradition during this season of giving. Visit RedCrossBlood.org to make an appointment to give.
As we celebrate Thanksgiving, we want to share how thankful we are for our volunteers like Betty Lou and Fred from the South Texas chapter. After a combined 50 years of service, the Hicks have hung up their red vests! We are so incredibly thankful for all of their service! ❤️
Each year, more than 350,000 people experience out-of-hospital cardiac arrest in the U.S. and about 90% of them die. Cardiac arrest occurs when the heart suddenly stops beating normally because of abnormal electrical activity. Every second counts, so it’s important for people to be trained in knowing how to perform CPR and use an AED. Immediate CPR delivered by a bystander can nearly double a person’s chance of survival.

It’s been several weeks since Hurricane Helene washed away entire communities and left tens of thousands of people with nothing. The American Red Cross is working around the clock with dozens of partners to get help to people as quickly as possible.
Some 2,000 Red Crossers from across the U.S. are working tirelessly to provide safe shelter, food, water and support to families struggling with unimaginable wreckage. We’re reaching more people every day.
With the help of partners, we’ve already provided 32,000 overnight shelter stays and nearly 400,000 meals and snacks across the impacted states.
If you need assistance, the Red Cross may be able to help.

Helping those affected by Hurricane Helene
Days after landfall, millions of people are still reeling from the heartbreak left behind by Hurricane Helene. The American Red Cross has launched a massive response along the 500-mile path of destruction to ensure no one faces this challenging time alone.
More than 900 Red Cross disaster responders, alongside our partners, are working around the clock to get help to those in need. Right now, our focus is on providing safe shelter, meals, emotional support and relief supplies for people facing unimaginable destruction.
Sunday night, more than 2,600 people stayed in 69 emergency shelters supported by the Red Cross and other community organizations. In some of the hardest hit areas that are accessible, 60 Red Cross emergency response vehicles are distributing meals, water and critical relief supplies. Each day, we are working tirelessly to reach more neighborhoods as conditions improve. With the help of partners, the Red Cross has provided more than 25,000 meals and snacks to people in need.
People affected by Hurricane Helene need help now. You can help by making a financial donation, by visiting redcross.org or calling 1-800-RED CROSS (800-733-2767). We can't do this alone!
