Help needed to secure food/water for our food sharing tonight and for cold weather survival items for our unhoused friends! If you can help bring a dish or water please let us know. We typically serve pastas, salads, veggie dishes (e.g., mashed potatoes, Brussels sprouts, green beans), fruits, rice, beans, bread items, and sweets (e.g., cookies, brownies). Packaged items like PB&J sandwiches or bean burritos are favorites since they can be saved for later. You can drop off donation items or stay to help serve dinner, which usually lasts an hour. If you plan to drop off a dish please leave it in a disposable serving dish. If you plan to stay and serve, you’re able to easily take your dish home after dinner. We sucessfully served 2940 meals in September to our unhoused, food insecure friends in Houston. We need your help to keep up with these growing numbers. Our success relies on our volunteers and donations from the community.
In 2012, the City of Houston made it illegal to feed those in need of a meal. Food Not Bombs Houston took a stand & decided to fight back. From March 1, 2023 - February 14, 2024, the group received 96 citations. A federal judge issued a restraining order to cease further citations until FNBHTX goes to trial in Oct 2025. The group continues to serve over 200 individuals, 4 nights a week. This is a look of how FNBHTX proceeded from 2012 through present day.

Great night! We're inching towards 200 people. The need is great and we're there.

We did it ahead of hurricane Beryl that is due to move inland within a couple of hours.
This is disgusting! Not only are shelters not opening ahead of TS Beryl, but homeless are
being tossed out in the rain, told they cannot be in these safe spaces they've used for years. A couple weeks ago, cops didn't care when a random man was driving in this same location, shooting an air soft rifle at homeless individuals as they slept. However, cops seem to care when homeless seek refuge from storms.
Shame on Whitmire. Shame on every city council rep that remain quite. This is not how you treat human beings.
160+ served tonight.
