West Fork Watersheds Partnership This is a project of the West Fork San Jacinto River Watershed Protection Plan The West Forks Watershed Partnership is a group of local stakeholders in the areas surrounding the West Fork San Jacinto River and its tributaries (including Lake Creek).

The Partnership is a voluntary group seeking to identify causes and sources of pollution in the watershed and develop voluntary, feasible solutions for addressing it. Support for the group is provided by the Houston-Galveston Area Council, the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality, and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.

If you are interested in the Cypress Creek area, we are kicking off a new project to develop a watershed protection plan for Cypress Creek. We're having a series of public meetings tomorrow for that project, and we'd love to have you involved! Thanks to all our agricultural agency reps who joined us for our agricultural and landowner resources workshop today. It was a great chance to coordonate on upcoming ways to serve the watershed. We're also thankful for serendipitous geography. .. our event was right next door to a gigantic hot rod and swap meet. We'll be out walking the event talking to people about water and landowner resources until the rain comes! So far I can say. ..y'all love your cars!

The impacts of sediment and storm events on the West Fork of the San Jacinto River were a concern to stakeholders even before Hurricane Harvey. Several bills have been introduced to the legislature to provide closer scrutiny of aggregate operations and address similar flooding issues. In addition, the emergency dredging project for the West Fork San Jacinto River has reached its midpoint, as explained in this update from the US Army Corps.
