The Texas Education Freedom Account directors warned parents that most would not receive the maximum voucher amount, but many families still hoped for more to pay for costly private schools.

Today, PACER Center is joining other disability advocacy groups across the country in a National Call-In Day to urge lawmakers to oppose the U.S. Department of Education’s recent transfer of the Office of Special Education and Rehabilitative Services (OSERS) to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, as well as the move of the Office for Civil Rights to the U.S. Department of Justice.

HOLY crap! On the 27th anniversary of the Olmstead decision, the US Dept of Justice issues memo saying "states do not have to provide in-home or community-based care to people with disabilities who need support".

The Justice Department's opinion challenges civil rights protections that have long treated the institutionalization of disabled Americans as a last resort.
