Mayor Mike Foreman presented a proclamation to the Pearwood Skating Academy proclaiming October as Pearwood Skating Academy Month in the City of Friendswood! Initially, October was recognized as National Roller Skating Month by President Ronald Reagan in 1983. What a perfect time to honor this Academy and their recent success at the 2023 Artistic Figure Skating National Championship this month. Congratulations Pearwood! 🛼

There is a gas leak near the corner or FM 518 and Eagle Lakes Dr. At this time, FM 518 is down to one lane heading southbound towards League City. Eagle Lakes Dr. is closed and can not be accessed from FM 518. Please use alternate routes down Manison Parkway Or West Blvd. Please use caution in the area and follow barricades and traffic signs for driver and worker safety.
UPDATE: Due to weather this project has been postponed to start Tuesday, October 10. ---- Stop signs will be installed on Bay Area Blvd. at Grissom Rd. on Wednesday, October 4, to help improve traffic safety in the area. The installation of these stop signs is in response to a sharp increase in accidents at this intersection. Although a traffic study determined the use of traffic signals was not warranted at this time, City of Friendswood and City Of League City staff will continue to monitor the intersection until such time the installation of traffic signals has been deemed required in accordance with state law.
Please follow barricades and traffic signs in the area for driver and worker safety. Thank you for your patience and cooperation.
HOMECOMING PARADE: FM 518/S. Friendswood Dr. will be closed in both directions from FM 2351 to Clearview Ave. on Thursday, October 5, beginning at 6:20 PM, for the Friendswood High School Homecoming Parade. The parade is expected to last approximately 30 min. Open the map below to view all alternate routes.
Accident Update 10:27 AM: The roadway has been reopened. The driver of the vehicle succumbed to his injuries at the hospital and his next of kin have been notified.
Major Accident: At approximately 5:01 AM, on September 26, 2023, the Friendswood Police Department received a report of a single vehicle accident in the 400 block of West Spreading Oaks Avenue. The Friendswood Police Department currently has West Spreading oaks closed between Woodlawn Drive and Sedora Drive. There was only one occupant in the vehicle at the time of the accident. Friendswood EMS is currently on scene. Please use West Shadowbend Avenue as an alternate route.
Update 10:25 AM, September 26: The Friendswood Police Department has made contact with Jerome Sills via telephone and notified him that charges have been filed against him. At this time, Sills has not turned himself in as requested by Friendswood Police. The Friendswood Police department is asking the public to contact the Department if you come into contact with him or know of his location, 281-996-3300.
At approximately 7:30 AM, on September 25, 2023, the Friendswood Police Department received a call for a family disturbance in the 5100 block of Bentwood Ln. The suspect, Jerome Sills, 45, fled the scene on foot and police are now searching for him. Sills is wanted for Felony Assault Family Violence. Police believe that Sills is still in the area. The victim was not able to provide a clothing description for Sills at the time of the incident. Below is the most recent photo police have. The basketball and tennis courts in Stevenson Park will be closed for resurfacing beginning tomorrow. The courts are scheduled to be closed for a couple of weeks.

There was no garbage or recycling pick-up service in Friendswood yesterday, September 4, in observance of Labor Day. Garbage and recycling pick-up service will resume with customers’ next regularly scheduled pick-up day.
