Mounting Horizons Page Mounting Horizons, Inc. is a 501(c) 3 community based organization.

We provide services such as Advocacy, information and referral, independent living skills classes, youth transition programming for young adults with disabilities, vocational skills training, employment services for TWC referrals, peer support, and social/recreational opportunities. We also provide ADA accessible public transportation for senior citizens and individuals with disabilities. The serv

ice is .60c a mile- individuals must become a consumer and participate in mobility training to qualify for service.

Today is the last day to complete a survey about statewide needs for Texans with Disabilities. The survey takes about 10 minutes to complete and advocates at Mounting Horizons are happy to assist anyone who needs assistance in order to complete it. This is a great opportunity to raise your voice and share your experiences as a Texan with a disability or as a caregiver/advocate.

There is still time to register for tomorrow's independent living skills workshop, Recipes and Groceries! Tomorrow, participants will learn how to: review recipes for which ingredients need to be purchased and which are already at home, how to use a grocery app to add items to cart, and how to budget the cost for their recipe. Our next Tuesday Connection event is happening on June 30th, 2026 at 1:30PM. Participants will get to do some rock painting together with their peers. Painted rocks can then be hidden in plain sight within their community, spreading positivity and art to their fellow community members.

Our Tuesday Connection – BINGO has been rescheduled to a different date and location.

The new date will be on Thursday, 06/18/2026, at Mounting Horizon’s downstairs Conference Room, 1300 Bay Area Blvd, Bldg B, Houston 77058. The time remains the same from 1:30 PM to 2:30 PM. Mounting Horizons would like to share and upcoming event from one of our community partners. The Gulf Coast Community Services Association is having a Crisis Assistance Outreach Event in Galveston County for households that may be experiencing financial hardship. GCCSA will be conducting on-site eligibility screenings for households seeking assistance with rent and/or utilities.

Appointments are required.

"Households may be eligible if they are experiencing a current financial hardship and meet program income guidelines (up to 200% of Federal Poverty Guidelines).

Applicants should bring:
• Valid photo ID
• Social Security numbers for all household members
• Proof of citizenship or legal status for all household members
• Proof of address
• Income documentation for the last 30 days
• Documentation supporting the current financial hardship or crisis

Please note that eligibility is determined during the appointment and assistance is subject to program requirements and funding availability.

We currently have appointment availability and are actively seeking referrals from community partners. If you work with individuals or families in Galveston County who may benefit from these services, we would be grateful if you would share this opportunity with them."
