Houston FireHouse 84

Houston FireHouse 84 City of Houston Fire Station 84 serving the Greenspoint area. Different from any other fire station in the city, Houston took a more modern approach with this fire station design.

The 15,500 square foot project features five apparatus bays, sleeping and support spaces that will accommodate four shifts of 16 people per shift with an estimated cost of approximately $6.6 million and an anticipated completion date of May 2015. In order to better meet the heating and cooling needs of the new station, Houston elected to use a new energy efficient ground source heat pump system that is projected to cut energy costs in half.

Hopefully this will help alleviate the flooding problem the Greenspoint area has experienced over the last several years.

The Harris County Flood Control District has completed construction of the Glen Forest and Kuykendahl Stormwater Detention Basins, located in Greens Bayou. The Flood Control District matched the $39.2 million award from the Federal Emergency Management Agency through the Hurricane Ike Hazard Mitigation Grant Program, bringing the total cost of construction to $63.7 million.

Together, the two basins are expected to reduce the risk of flooding for approximately 1,100 structures along Greens Bayou.

From Andy Williamson: “On Christmas Eve 2020, at 2222 hours, Engine 5 delivered a healthy baby girl at the couple’s home that was supposed to be a C-section while waiting on Ambulance 4. Despite everything, there are still cool things that happen at this job. Picture posted with permission of family of course.”

Guys. I know many of you are upset and angry. We didn’t get it done after we worked so hard!! The best thing for me in this experience was all the people I was privileged to meet and get to know. I learned so much!! Thank you for sharing a small part of your life with me!! Although it didn’t work out the way we wanted, know this: I’m not done!! I will continue to represent people who are cheated, wronged and abused. I need to get back to work. I need to spend more time with my family. And, I will continue to work on those issues I care so much about: animal cruelty; stray animals; homelessness; sexual trafficking. I will admit that I worry about our city. I worry about our great firefighters. We have to treat them fairly and with respect. That means fair pay!! We can’t allow them to get sick and then abandon them. I worry about crime in our city. I worry about the next flood, which we know will come. I worry about those who still wait for Harvey relief. I will continue to be engaged. I believe there is a plan for all of us. I thank you from the bottom of my heart for all you did for me. And, please understand this: I love Houston. I want Mayor Turner to succeed. Because if he succeeds then Houston succeeds. I refuse to be one of those people who is bitter or hateful. I am pulling for, and praying for, Mayor Turner’s success. I ask that you do the same. Our city’s future depends upon it.

I’m going to take a brief respite but will be back soon. Happy holidays and Merry Christmas!
