Cougar Preview for University of Houston
Meet Holly Hunter, one of our newest ambassadors! She is a junior originally from Stuart, Florida majoring in political science. Holly was an O-Team leader over the summer and is involved on campus with club theater, Houston Hillel, and the Honors College. Her favorite UH memory is watching UH win the Armed Forces Bowl with her family. When Holly is not in class, you can find her at the Nook. Fun fact: she spent six weeks studying abroad in Costa Rica last summer and would like to work for National Geographic someday.
Kimberly Chairez is one of our veteran ambassadors! She is a junior from Houston and is a biology major. She is involved with Ignite, Up 'til Dawn, and Alpha Eta Alpha. Kim's favorite part of UH and Houston is the wide range of people, cultures, and overall diversity. Her favorite UH tradition is singing the cougar fight song at football games. Her favorite restaurant is Harry's Restaurant!
Today's featured ambassador is Genesis Jimenez, a senior history major at UH! She is involved with the National Society of Collegiate Scholars, Cub Camp, and O-Team. Her favorite part of Houston is Discovery Green and her favorite place to study on campus is the library.
Meet Najma Alexander, an anthropology major and junior at UH! Najma is from Houston and is involved on campus with the Anthropology Society. Her favorite part of Houston is the Museum District, and her favorite part of UH are the movie nights in the park. Najma's favorite UH memory is attending the first football game in TDECU Stadium with her friends and all of the school sprit. Go COOGS 🐾

This morning, there was a remembrance service held at the UH World Trade Center Memorial and Reflection Garden where students, faculty, and community members paid their tributes to all those affected by the attacks. University of Houston is the only school in Texas to have a piece of the World Trade Center displayed on campus.
Meet one of our veteran ambassadors, Wesley Okereke! He is a junior from Arlington, TX majoring in psychology and minoring in kinesiology. He is involved with Collegiate 100 Men, the Nigerian Student Association, and is the public relations chair for NAACP at UH. Wesley's favorite thing about going to UH is its proximity to downtown. His favorite UH memory is going to the opening of TDECU Stadium and his favorite restaurant is Whataburger!
Introducing one of our newest ambassadors: Gabby Cabangon! She is a sophomore majoring in civil engineering. She is involved with O-Team, choir, and the Rhapsody acapella group at UH. Her favorite part of Houston is Midtown and her favorite UH tradition is the candlelight ceremony during New Student Orientation. She loves eating at Jus' Mac in her free time! Interesting fact: Gabby has gone zip lining on Asia's longest zip line in Bukidnon, Philippines.
Last Saturday was our first annual retreat! Ambassadors toured Minute Maid Stadium, went to lunch at Jackson Street BBQ, and received leadership training from our supervisors. We are excited about using our new knowledge to make our tours even better than they were before!

Meet Dylan Castagno, a senior from Laguna Beach, California! Dylan is studying Hotel & Restaurant Management and is involved on campus with Club Managers Association of America, Mission24 Campus Ministries, and Gourmet Night. His favorite UH tradition is Winter Wonderland and his favorite part of Houston is Hermann Park. Dylan's favorite restaurant is Chuy's. Fun fact: He studied abroad last fall with Semester at Sea and visited 18 cities on 4 different continents!
Meet Sandra Achonye, our featured ambassador born in Lagos, Nigeria! Sandra is a junior biochemistry major and is involved on campus with the Nigerian Student Association, American Chemical Society, and the Metropolitan Volunteer Program. Sandra serves as the Graduate Liaison Chair of the Nigerian Student Association. Her favorite part of Houston is meeting different people from all over the world and tasting all the food from their culture and her favorite UH memory is attending the first general meeting of the Nigerian Student Association and meeting all her current best friends there. Her favorite restaurant off campus is Beaucoups and her favorite on-campus restaurant is Subway. Fun Fact: Sandra has been to Turkey twice and dabbles in Turkish.
Today, our featured ambassador is Cielo Marte from Manila, Philippines. She is in her sophomore year and a kinesiology major. On campus, Cielo is the director of public relations for UH DanceOn and the Council for Exceptional Children. She is also a Cub Camp counselor. Her favorite UH memory is winning a signed football and jersey while tailgating at a UH home game and her favorite part about Houston is that it's never boring! When not on campus, Cielo can be found at her two favorite restaurants: Taqueria del Sol and Sweet Paris!
