Tail wags and turning pages!
On both June 15th and 22nd, the library hosted Read to a Therapy Dog days, where kids shared stories with sweet Louie (and his handler Elva Lefdal) and Roan (with his handler Carolyn Baker). It was so special to see children read with confidence and joy, matched with books that fit their skills.

Thank you to our furry friends and their amazing handlers for making reading feel extra cozy and fun!

Roar-some creativity at the Howard Public Library!
On June 16th, kids brought their imaginations to life at our 2nd Craft Day of the Summer Reading Program, building their very own dinosaurs with the help of our crafty librarians, Mary K. and Elva. After all that dino-making, every young artist got a sweet treat to celebrate!
Mark your calendars: the 3rd Craft Day is coming up on Tuesday, June 30th --- and all children are invited to join the fun. Don't miss it!!

The Howard Public Library will be closed on Friday, June 19th, in observance of Juneteenth--a day that commemorates the emancipation of enslaved African Americans. On June 19th, 1865, Union troops arrived in Galveston, Texas, bringing news of freedom, more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation. It's a powerful moment in history worth honoring.

What a paw-some surprise at the Howard Public Library on Monday, June 1st!
Our beloved therapy dog Louie came with his handler Elva Lefdal --and brought a couple of friends along! Carolyn Baker and her talented pup Roen joined the fun, delighting the kids with a few clever tricks that had everyone smiling.
While Louie listened patiently as the children shared their favorite stories, Roen stole the show with his playful performance.

Good news, friends! Our beloved therapy dog Louie is coming back to Howard Public Library!
On June 15th and 22nd at 3:00 P.M., kids can cozy up with Louie, share their favorite stories, and shower him with love.
Reading to a furry friend is a wonderful way to build confidence and joy around books---and Louie's all ears (and tail wags)!

What a day at the Howard Public Library!
On June 2nd, our Summer Reading Program kicked off "Craft Day" with a prehistoric bang!
Little explorers dove into the theme "Unearth A Story" by creating their very own dinosaur fossils --- so much creativity on display!
After the craft fun, Elva Lefdal captivated the group with her reading of "How the Dinosaurs Disappeared", sparking lively discussion with thoughtful questions that had the kids excited to share.
We love seeing young minds dig into stories and science! Thank you to everyone who joined --more adventures ahead! Our next "Craft Day" will be on June 16th from 1:00 to 2:00 P.M.
