In observance of Juneteenth, Howell Township Municipal Offices will be closed on Friday, June 19, 2026.

Juneteenth commemorates June 19, 1865, when Union soldiers arrived in Galveston, Texas, and announced the freedom of enslaved people, more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation was issued. This historic moment marked a significant step in the Nation's journey toward freedom and equality. Today, we honor the resilience, contributions, and achievements of African Americans and reflect on the enduring principles expressed in the Declaration of Independence: "We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness."

Join us with Beyond the Laces "Kindness Corner" during Howell Township's July 2nd Celebration.

The Kindness Corner is a special area where businesses, organizations, and community leaders come together to give back to children and families.

Our hope is simple: create tons of smiles, show children that Kindness Through Action is key, and create moments that will resonate long after the celebration ends.

Beyond the Laces started as a children's book and has grown into a national kindness movement reaching schools, communities, and families across the country.

MAKE A CHILD SMILE

There are no sales and no financial transactions in the Kindness Corner. This is simply about giving back. Whether it's a small gift, coupon, raffle prize, giveaway, or fun experience, we're creating a place where kids smile, families make memories, and kindness comes to life.

The Kindness Corner is supported by the John Madden Foundation, TD Bank, Herr's Potato Chips, Topps Trading Cards, Jersey Shore BlueClaws, Texas Roadhouse, and many other amazing companies that believe in giving back and Kindness!!

Notice of Public Hearing

NOTICE is hereby given that a public hearing will be held for the purpose of receiving comments on an application to the County of Monmouth for Open Space Trust Funds under the Monmouth County Municipal Open Space Grant Program. The public hearing will be held by the Township of Howell on Tuesday, June 23rd 2026, at 7:00 PM. The public will be able to attend in person at the Main Meeting Room, 4567 Route 9 North, Howell, NJ 07731.

The purpose of the public hearing is to offer the general public an opportunity to make suggestions or comments, in writing or in person, concerning the Township Application for the Pride Park Improvements Project. The proposed project will consist of replacing a portion of the existing playground with new equipment, installing a rubber safety surface and installing a walking trail along the perimeter of Park. Pride Park is located on Seton Hall Drive, Howell, NJ 07731; Block 165, Lot 9.07.

Written comments may be mailed to the Township Clerk, Allison Ciranni, at [email protected] or at 4567 Rt. 9 North 2nd Floor, Howell, NJ, 07331. Only comments received prior to 4:00 pm on June 23rd, 2026 will be considered at this public hearing.

Howell Township is opening a cooling center at the Senior Center for any residents who might not otherwise have a place to escape the heat.

The center will be open today through Thursday (M-F, 6/15/26-6/18/26) from 9:00am until 3:00pm. Howell residents only. ID and sign-in required.

The Howell Senior Center is located at 251 Preventorium Road.
