The Board of Canvassers will convene tomorrow, May 7, 2026, at 9:00 a.m. to canvass the votes cast at the May 5, 2026, Special Election. The meeting will take place in the Historic Courthouse located at 200 E. Grand River in Howell. The meeting is open to the public.

The members are bipartisan and the canvass process is one of the most important safeguards in the election system. It is a verification process to help ensure results are accurate, complete, and trustworthy before they become official results. The canvassers will review all election materials submitted by our city and township clerks. It includes vote totals, poll books, absentee ballot records, early voting records, and remarks from our poll workers. The goal is to confirm everything lines up mathematically and procedurally.
