🚧 Boat Ramp Dock Closure Notice 🚧



Please be advised that the Boat Ramp Dock will be closed for replacement beginning May 29, 2026, through June 30, 2026.


The contractor will make every effort to keep the boat ramp open for launching throughout all phases of construction. However, there may be occasional temporary closures of the boat ramp depending on the construction phase and safety requirements.


We appreciate your patience and understanding as we complete these improvements to better serve our community and visitors.

The Town of Howey-in-the-Hills continues to move forward, and there is a lot happening in our community!

Mayor Graham Wells and Town Manager Sean O’Keefe recently shared an important “State of the Town” message with residents in the April 2026 water bills, highlighting major accomplishments, ongoing projects, and the vision for the future of our Town.

The State of the Town message reflects the progress that our community has made together and where we are headed next.

The Town of Howey-in-the-Hills leadership was proudly represented at the 2026 Florida League of Cities Leadership Class in Orlando. Mayor Graham Wells, Mayor Pro Tem Tim Everline, and Councilor Jon Arnold attended the leadership course focused on “Leading Where You Stand: Courage, Civility, and Community Impact.”
With more than 100 elected officials from across the State of Florida participating, the course provided an opportunity for local leaders to collaborate, learn, and strengthen the future of their communities under the Florida League of Cities motto: “Local Voices Making Local Choices.”
The program featured distinguished speakers and workshops focused on public leadership, trust, communication, and community impact, including presentations by Emily Colon, Betsy Gardner, Adam Hollingsworth, and panel discussions with The Honorables Kamia Brown, Bob Cortes, and Bobby Olszewski.
We appreciate our Town leaders for their continued commitment to learning, collaboration, and serving the residents of Howey-in-the-Hills.

🚨 **WATER ALERT: Phase III Extreme Water Shortage Now in Effect**

The St. Johns River Water Management District has declared a Phase III Extreme Water Shortage (Order 2026-017) for Lake County, effective May 11, 2026. Mandatory water-use restrictions are now in place for Howey-in-the-Hills.

**One-day-per-week landscape irrigation only:**
🏠 Odd or no address → **Saturday**
🏠 Even address → **Sunday**
🏢 Non-residential → **Tuesday**

⏰ **Never water between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m.** — best to water between 6 p.m. and 8 a.m.
💧 Maximum ¾ inch of water per zone, no more than one hour per zone
⛔ Decorative/aesthetic water uses are prohibited
⛔ Wasteful water use is prohibited under all phases

Florida is in the most widespread Extreme Drought since tracking began in 2000. Please do your part — adjust irrigation timers now, check for leaks, and conserve where you can.

Staff are actively working with service providers to restore connectivity as quickly as possible. During this time, Town Hall may be unable to receive phone calls or respond to online inquiries.

🚧 Water Service Interruption Notice – Mission Santa Cruz Area

The Town of Howey-in-the-Hills would like to inform residents that a water line break has occurred in the Mission Santa Cruz area.

To facilitate necessary repairs, water service will be temporarily shut down on Mission Santa Cruz from 701 Santa Cruz Ln to 715 Santa Cruz Ln.

Crews are actively working to resolve the issue as quickly and safely as possible. Residents in the affected area may experience a temporary loss of water service during this time.

We appreciate your patience and understanding as we complete these essential repairs. Updates will be provided as they become available.

The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) is planning safety and traffic enhancements at the intersection of Palm Avenue (S.R. 19) and Central Avenue. Whether you walk the neighborhood or drive it every day, these updates are designed with you in mind.


What’s changing?
-A new pedestrian crosswalk with a "push-to-flash" beacon (RRFB) for safer crossing.
-Two new left-turn lanes from Palm Ave to Central Ave to reduce backup.
-Fresh resurfacing for a smoother commute.
