Sheridan County EMS is currently accepting applications for EMS Director. The EMS Director is responsible for ensuring the organizational delivery of high quality, cost-effective pre-hospital care. This is accomplished through proactive leadership, effective supervision, sound management and promotion of best practices for both internal and external clients. The Director works with the County Commissioners for budget approval, expenditure from funds and to communicate equipment issues or needs. The Director coordinates with the Medical Director for quality improvement and the delivery of progressive, patient centered medical protocols. This individual supervises all EMS staff and EMS operations, provides patient care within their scope of practice and will manage and participate in the maintenance of facilities, equipment and ambulances.
Experience and skills:
• Effective oral and written communication skills, strong listening and comprehension abilities, adaptability to quickly evolving situations and strong decision making.
• Able to work independently, multi-task and motivate others.
• Valid driver’s license. Upon receiving an offer of employment, the applicant must pass a background check and pre-employment drug screen.
• Bachelor’s degree in management or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred. Three years of EMS management and supervisory experience preferred.
• Strong management candidates without EMS certification are considered if willing to obtain EMS certification within one year.
• Experience as Kansas Instructor/Coordinator or equivalent education instructional experience preferred. AHA BLS Instructor certification preferred.

There will be a commodity distribution on Wednesday, September 9, 2026 from 10:00 – 11:00 on the main floor of the courthouse in Hoxie and the Community Center in Selden from 1:00 – 1:30. Expected commodities will consist of apricot halves, corn, dry pinto beans, lentils, long grain rice, walnuts, dry garbanzo beans, grape juice, almonds, frozen diced peaches, chicken drumsticks, fish sticks and dry milk.
