This week is Severe Weather Awareness Week.

The tornado sirens will sound today at 1:45pm and 6:45pm in Hoyt Lakes and Aurora. This would be a great opportunity to talk about tornado safety at home or your workplace.

Congratulations to the 4 Mesabi East players and The Rock Ridge players that went to Lake Placid NY with the Minnesota Miners Hockey club & brought home Gold from the CAN/AM Challenge Cup. We'll done boys!

Mesabi East Schools will be offering childcare to attendees of Sgt Cody Siebert's visitation and funeral. We cant thank Mesabi East Schools enough for the use of their facility and childcare service. We encourage you to take advantage of this great service. Follow directions posted on Mesabi East Schools page .

The East Range Police Department would like to announce the funeral service of ERPD Officer, K9 Sgt. Cody Siebert. Sgt Siebert passed away unexpectedly on Feb 27, 2026. Sgt The public is welcome to attend to pay their respects to K9 Sgt Cody Siebert.

The funeral service will be on Saturday March 21st, 2026 at the Mesabi East High School Memorial Gymnasium located at 601 N 1st St W, Aurora, MN 55705. Visitation hours are scheduled 0900 AM – 1100 AM. The funeral service will start immediately after visitation hours at 1100 AM.

The funeral service will be broadcasted live on YouTube. Look for the link on East Range Police Department and Mesabi East School page the day of the service.

At the end of the funeral service, a short Law Enforcement Honors ceremony will be conducted in the gym. Following the service, a vehicle procession of family, law enforcement and public safety will take place through the communities of Aurora, Biwabik and Gilbert
The public is invited to line the route as the procession goes through each community. Estimated time of the procession is approximately 1 PM.

Funeral Parking Information:
Attendees that park in the large lot on the north side of the school should enter through door 6. Attendees that park in the east lots should enter through door 1.
The pool parking lot is reserved for family members of Cody Siebert. The public is asked not to park near door 22.
Overflow parking may be reserved in the community center parking lot located at 15 W 1st Ave N. A bus will be on hand to shuttle attendees to the school.
