WARNING: it looks like we are in for another heavy storm. Please take precautions and seek shelter. Reminder that sand bags are provided by Cochise County and our station at 2422 N Firehouse Ln is a distribution point. It's self serve so bring a shovel. The sand pile is in the lot across the street and empty bags can be found in the nearby gray 55 gallon drum. While Whetstone was not technically included in the current tornado warning, we are very near the affected area. Things can change fast so remember your safety should come first over property, follow instructions that are pushed out over news radio and phone notification.

A big shoutout to one of our amazing local residents, Brandon Sharp!

Brandon recently organized a private drive and collected several flats of water and Gatorade, which he generously donated to both the Whetstone Fire District and the Tombstone Fire Department.

Acts of kindness like this mean the world to our first responders, especially during the hot summer months. Keeping our crews hydrated helps keep our entire community safe.

Thank you, Brandon, for your selfless dedication, generosity, and support for our local firefighters! 🚒💦🙌

A big thank you to the Whetstone Water District for hosting such a great event and bringing everyone together. We are enjoying getting to meet so many of you, having the kids spray the firehose and put out our prevention car fire prop and of course celebrating our awesome community!

📢 Bridging the Gap: Why Fire District Annexation Matters to All of Us
When an emergency happens, every second counts. But did you know that right now, there are homes and properties in our surrounding area that sit outside our official fire district boundaries?

This is where property annexation comes in—and it’s incredibly important for the safety of our entire community. Here is why bringing these properties into the fire district matters:

Guaranteed, Rapid Response: Properties outside a designated fire district often rely on "good Samaritan" responses or complex mutual aid agreements. Annexation ensures that our local fire district is legally bound, fully equipped, and routed to respond to your property instantly.

Fairness and Shared Responsibility: Operating a modern, life-saving fire department requires funding for trucks, equipment, and training. When properties join the district, everyone contributes their fair share to the tax base, ensuring the financial health of the services we all depend on.

Lower Insurance Premiums: For property owners, joining a recognized fire district often improves your area’s insurance rating (ISO score). This can lead to significant drops in your annual homeowners or commercial property insurance premiums.

Stronger Mutual Safety: Fire doesn't care about property lines or district maps. A wildfire or structural fire in an unprotected "gap" area poses a direct threat to the annexed neighborhoods right next door. By protecting one, we protect all.

What you can do:
If your property is currently unannexed, look into the petition process for our local fire district. If you're already in the district, talk to your neighbors on the borders about the benefits of joining.

Let's work together to ensure no home is left unprotected. If you would like more information or if you have any questions or concerns please call Whetstone Fire District today at 520-456-1717 we are happy to assist you! 🚒❤️
