Hubbard Fire District Responds To An Early Morning Crawl Space Fire

On May 22th at approximately 04:20, the Hubbard Fire District was dispatched to a report of a residential structure fire on Sunshine Circle in Hubbard, OR. Hubbard E87 arrived at 04:26 to a Double wide manufactured home with nothing showing. Upon completion of a 360 walk around E87 found active fire and smoke coming from beneath the home. Shortly after, Woodburn E22 and one off duty Hubbard Fire Lieutenant arrived. E22 laid in from the hydrant to E87 supplying water to the scene. The off duty Lieutenant relieved E87 from command. Aurora E915 arrived and was assigned to E22 fire attack. The three engines worked diligently and aggressively to keep the fire from growing and furthering damages. Wooburn Chief 202 arrived and was assigned safety. Thanks to the swift actions and hard work from the engine crews the fire was contained to the crawl space with minimal damage done to the residence.

No residents of the home were displaced. The cause of the fire was determined to be improperly disposed of smoking materials.

The Hubbard Fire District received fire suppression assistance from the Aurora Fire District, and the Woodburn Fire District. Hubbard Fire had 4 personnel respond, two levy funded and two volunteer firefighters. Woodburn Fire District responded with one engine and one chief officer. The Aurora Fire District also provided one engine. Totaling in 13 personnel on scene.

The Hubbard Fire District would like to thank our neighboring agencies for their assistance with this incident. Additionally, we would like to remind everyone to properly dispose of smoking materials.
