Peace Officers Memorial Day, observed annually on May 15, honors law enforcement officers who have died or been disabled in the line of duty. Established by Congress in 1962 and signed by President Kennedy, it serves as a solemn tribute to those who made the ultimate sacrifice.
On this Peace Officer’s Memorial Day, we remember all those who made the ultimate sacrifice, including our own Detective John D. Songy, and we proudly share this message from John’s wife, Joanne.
In Loving Memory of Detective John D. Songy 💙
As we approach the six-year anniversary of John’s passing on May 29, 2020, I find myself reflecting on the life he lived and the love he gave so freely to everyone around him.
John lost his life in the line of duty due to COVID-19. He was more than a police officer—he was a loving devoted son, father, grandfather, husband, a loyal friend, and truly one of the kindest souls you could ever meet. He would do anything for anyone without hesitation.
Every year during the month of May, I try to honor John in a meaningful way. This year, I created a page ("In Loving Memory of Detective John D. Songy") and a Kindness Challenge in John’s honor 💙
I’ve also created tickets (attached below) that you can share, print, and pass along.
💙 Here’s how it works:
If you receive a ticket, it means someone performed an act of kindness in memory of John.
✨ Please keep the kindness going.
Do something kind for someone else… and then pass the ticket along.
Then come back here to his page("In Loving Memory of Detective John D. Songy") and:
*Share your act of kindness
*Read and be inspired by others
*Help us continue John’s legacy
His legacy lives on through kindness.
📲 Scan the QR code on the ticket to return to his page, share your story, and be part of something truly meaningful.
Thank you for helping us honor John’s life, his service, and the incredible kindness he brought into this world.
💡 Examples of Kindness:
* Pay for someone’s coffee or meal
* Help a neighbor
* Write a heartfelt note
* Donate or give to someone in need
* Offer your time, kindness, or a smile
