This evening, our teams conducted training exercises at Heritage Park, encompassing three scenarios: two lost person searches and one hazardous materials incident. Airworlf 1 and its crew performed exceptionally well, locating the missing individual in the woods within 12 minutes of takeoff and identifying the hazardous material barrel within 10 minutes. We appreciate the citizens who observed the training from a safe distance.

We are happy to share news of our partnership with Sleep in Heavenly Peace. This organization is dedicated to making sure no child sleeps without a bed. They will be building beds for children in need and need our communities help with donating NEW Twin Size bedding similar to what is shown in the picture. We have a donation box located at Richfield Fire Department Station #1 on Hubertus rd.

A huge thank you to Roger, Becky, Blake, and Sarah Jo from Basse's Farms for their family's generous $5,000 donation in support of the Richfield Days celebration this coming August! Last night, a check was presented to the Village Board at the Board's regular monthly meeting.

This contribution will go directly towards the nearly $8,000 already budgeted for fireworks this summer to help us create a memorable community celebration. Public-private partnerships like this make a real difference in bringing our community together, so we are grateful each time a local business steps up and offers to donate towards various causes or projects throughout the year.

Construction alert 🚧

🚧 Road Work Continues in Richfield 🚧

Today, the Village of Richfield will begin its annual Chip Sealing Program in partnership with the Washington County Highway Department. Chip sealing is a cost-effective roadway preservation technique that helps extend the life of our roads and protect the community's investment in transportation infrastructure.

The process involves applying a polymer-based oil to the roadway, followed by a layer of granite stone chips. Rollers then compact the material into the road surface, and a broom truck removes any excess stone. While residents may notice loose stone immediately following the application, the roadway will quickly settle as traffic and compaction continue.

One of the advantages of this program is that it is funded through a partnership between the Village and Washington County. Through the County's sales tax-supported highway maintenance program, the Village is responsible only for the cost of materials, allowing us to preserve more miles of roadway in a fiscally responsible manner.

The following roads are scheduled for chip sealing:

• Willow Creek Road – Scenic Road to Colgate Road
• Hillside Road – Elmwood Road to Highway Q
• Monches Road – Plat Road to Highway 164
• Scenic Road – Highway 167 to Pleasant Hill Road
• Hillside Road – Highway 167 to Hubertus Road

Motorists are encouraged to use caution in work zones, reduce speeds, and be aware of temporary loose stone conditions during and immediately after construction.

Hubertus Road, west of STH 164, will also begin paving the base course of asphalt today and the road crew will be shouldering in the Wolf Run Subdivision.

Thank you for your patience as we continue investing in the long-term maintenance and preservation of Richfield's road system.

Severe weather is ongoing across parts of the state this afternoon and into this evening. It's important to have multiple ways to receive warnings. Make sure to know where to go when a warning is issued.

⚡🔌 Power outages can happen at any time, but using a generator safely is critical.

✔️ Always operate generators outdoors and at least 20 feet away from doors, windows, and vents.
✔️ Never use a generator inside a home, garage, basement, or enclosed space.
✔️ Make sure you have working carbon monoxide alarms installed in your home.

A generator can provide power during an outage, but improper use can quickly become deadly. Stay safe and prevent carbon monoxide poisoning.
