Signing Day for our Practical Nursing students. What an incredible accomplishment.

Upcoming graduates recently took part in the annual WSWHE BOCES Signing Day, where they were celebrated by their future employers with warm welcomes, congratulatory gifts and words of encouragement as they prepare to begin their careers in healthcare.

Several graduates have accepted positions with Adirondack Pediatrics, Fort Hudson Health System, Hudson Headwaters Health Network, Irongate Family Practice and The Wesley Community.

We are so proud of these students and excited to see the impact they will make in our region's healthcare workforce.

⭐Mary Fredella, senior information processing specialist for the Practical Nursing Program, was recently honored with the WSWHE BOCES Staff Spotlight Award at the March 11, 2026, Board of Education meeting.

🏆The Staff Spotlight Award recognizes a WSWHE BOCES employee who is deserving of special recognition for exemplary performance, special achievements and for shining a positive light or bringing attention to the organization. They are our own BOCES beacons of light.

🌟 Student Making a Difference 🌟
Samira goes above and beyond to support her peers and strengthen the Practical Nursing program community. As Student Council vice president, she helps create a learning environment where students feel supported, confident and connected.

She introduced a Positivity Board where students and faculty set meaningful goals that later became a collaborative art display. During the month of love, she also created customized cartoon characters celebrating the unique personalities of students and staff, bringing joy and school spirit throughout the building.

Understanding the demands of an intensive nursing program, Samira also started a Walking and Wellness Club and launched a Student of the Month initiative to recognize and encourage her peers.

Originally from Kenya, Samira also supports a foundation that empowers children and communities through education, vocational training and mentorship.

Her creativity, compassion and leadership truly embody what it means to be a student making a difference.
