It's the last day of August, but we don't want summer to be over! From solar s'mores to Summer Reading, Bunnies and Books, and wishing good luck to our seniors--not to mention about 5 million crafts--this has been a summer for the books (pun intended). Thanks for a great one, and we look forward to seeing you in the fall for lots more fun at the library!

Look who came to visit the library! Hobbitses. Yes.

Join us on Saturday, September 12th at 11am for a presentation on and discussion of J.R.R. Tolkien’s life and works, in honor of Bilbo and Frodo’s birthday! We will learn about Tolkien’s childhood, adulthood, and impact on fantasy in literature. In particular, we will discuss his classic novel, The Hobbit, and touch on its sequels, The Lord of the Rings trilogy. (And because it is a hobbit party, we will of course have snacks.) Brush up on your Tolkien ahead of time by asking for a book at the desk, or just come for the camaraderie and celebration of this classic author and his iconic land of Middle-earth. Hosted by the Classics Book and Poetry Group--visitors and new members welcome!

We’re seeing double here at the Hudson Falls Free Library!

In the last few years, we have had an influx of twins attending our activities. So in honor of the unique experience of being a twin and parenting them, we celebrated twin culture with our very own “Twins Day"--matching outfits encouraged.

Please note, there are NO SCHEDULED YOUTH DEPARTMENT ACTIVITIES AUGUST 24-29. But... there is still lots to do! Keep the Summer Reading sheets coming, and ask at the desk upstairs for prizes! You can also do our Scavenger Hunt, Rubber Duck Hunt, the Question of the Month, Bird Hunt, and a Grab-and-Go craft. And don't forget to bring your books upstairs to check out!
