The Columbia County District Attorney's Office is comprised of 9 attorneys (including the DA), 2 investigators and 8 support personnel. The DA's Office works closely with local, state and federal law enforcement to ensure the laws of the State of New York are upheld and that our citizens are protected. The office is dedicated to seeking justice by helping victims of crimes, prosecuting those engag

ed in criminal activity and protecting law abiding citizens of Columbia County. The District Attorney has authority over all criminal investigations and prosecutions in the county. The District Attorney's Office employs investigators and attorneys specialized in the investigation and prosecution of all types of criminal conduct, including homicide, narcotics, s*x crimes, child abuse, computer crimes, domestic violence and crimes against older adults. Deputy Chief Assistant Nicholas Rohlfing attended Friday’s NYS Crime Victims’ Memorial Dedication Ceremony held on the Empire State Plaza in Albany. As part of the ceremony community leaders were invited to share the names of victims of crime from their respective jurisdictions. Rohlfing read the name of Columbia County resident Edmund Metz who died June 7, 2024 as the result of a fire in his Livingston home.

The event, traditionally billed as one of the city’s biggest celebrations, also served as Columbia County’s official commemoration of America’s Sesquicentennial Celebration. Congratulations to DA Liberati-Conant and his son on completing the OK5k in the Village of Kinderhook on Saturday. DA Liberati-Conant and Chief Assistant Botts were honored to attend the kick-off celebration of the launch of the Columbia County Sheriff’s Mutual Aid Foundation. All proceeds raised by the Foundation will directly support the men and women of the Sheriff’s Office during times of extraordinary need as well as help to support scholarships, training and professional development. DA Liberati-Conant and Chief Assistant Botts were pleased to attend Wednesday’s recognition ceremony marking the opening of the NYSP Troop K Chatham barracks. SP Chatham replaced the nearly 70 year-old New Lebanon barracks and gives officers a modern workplace with room to expand operations. SP Chatham is located at 500 Route 295, Chatham. Congratulations to everyone involved with the opening of this new facility and may it provide an efficient and comfortable workplace for years to come.
