Tonight we faced the heat to train on forcing a door to make entry into a structure and hose advancement. Our friends from Carlock Fire Department joined us. It was great getting to train with our awesome neighbors!

This morning, Emilio, got to ride to school in one of our engines. He won this at a recent auction that raised money for the Hudson PTO. Congrats Emilio. We had fun driving you to school today!

Today Lieutenant Branden Freye-Terrell & Lieutenant Cole Kinder graduated from Basic Operations Firefighter class hosted by the Illinois Fire Service Institute.

This class was over 350 hours of blended online classroom and 10 full weekends of hands on training with the total class lasting 18 weeks.
While working full time jobs, raising a family, and completing work related schooling, both still found the time to study , complete tests, online lectures and attend our own fire department trainings. This dedication does not come easy or without sacrifice.

Both still have a 40 hour Hazmat Ops class they will be completing in the next couple of weeks to finish out their training.

Once completed, both will have obtained not only their Basic Ops Firefighter certification, but also their Advanced Technician Firefighter certification through the Illinois State Fire Marshal office.

Congratulations and Thank You for your dedication and commitment to your community Lieutenant Brandon Freye-Terrell and Lieutenant Cole Kinder.

Today starts a journey for 3 of our volunteers. From left to right, Lieutenant Cole Kinder, Firefighter Hanna Kuchenmeister, and Lieutenant Branden Freye-Terrell who have made the commitment to better themselves and the service they provide to our district by enrolling in a 20 week BOF class that they will earn both their Basic firefighter and Advanced Firefighter certifications through the Illinois State Fire Marshals office. Over the next 20 weeks they will have multiple weeks of book learning, test and 10 weekends of bookcamp style hands on training. All three do this while also attending our monthly trainings , working full time jobs, attending classes for those full time jobs, and raising family. This commitment just shows their love for this community and passion to help others in need. Please help us encourage and support them through this endeavor.
