Thank you, Partners  and  for a copy of Open, Living With An Expansive Mind In A Distracted World, by Nate Klemp, PhD, published on February 13, 2024.

A New York Times bestselling author shares a powerful new approach for living in a distracted and divided world with greater engagement, freedom, and openness.

With the avalanche of information we get every day, closing down our minds and hearts seems to be the only way to survive. We close down to our inner experience by compulsively checking our devices. We close down to others by getting caught in echo chambers of outrage. But what if there’s another way? What if being more open to life is actually what brings us sanity and happiness? In this climate of distraction and division, Nate Klemp’s Open offers a path back to a way of living that is expansive, creative, and filled with wonder.

Drawing on new science, age-old practices, and personal stories, Klemp examines why we close down when faced with stressors or threats, then reveals how we can train ourselves to open up to the fullness that life offers―even when frightened, outraged, or heartbroken.

Being Henry: The Fonz…and Beyond by Henry Winkler published by on October 31, 2023. Thank you for the for my ! 🖤

Who remembers Arthur Fonzarelli and Happy Days? As a kid of the 80s I used to love Happy Days. I had the pleasure of seeing Henry Winkler with the a few days ago and if you have a chance to see him live, go! He is highly entertaining and exudes gratitude, it was a great night.

From Emmy-award winning actor, author, comedian, producer, and director Henry Winkler, a deeply thoughtful memoir of the lifelong effects of stardom and the struggle to become whole.

Henry Winkler, launched into prominence as “The Fonz” in the beloved Happy Days, has transcended the role that made him who he is. Brilliant, funny, and widely-regarded as the nicest man in Hollywood (though he would be the first to tell you that it’s simply not the case, he’s really just grateful to be here), Henry shares in this achingly vulnerable memoir the disheartening truth of his childhood, the difficulties of a life with severe dyslexia, the pressures of a role that takes on a life of its own, and the path forward once your wildest dream seems behind you.

Since the glorious era of Happy Days fame, Henry has endeared himself to a new generation with roles in such adored shows as Arrested Development, Parks and Recreation, and Barry, where he’s been revealed as an actor with immense depth and pathos, a departure from the period of his life when he was so distinctly typecast as The Fonz, he could hardly find work.

Filled with profound heart, charm, and self-deprecating humor, Being Henry is a memoir about so much more than a life in Hollywood and the curse of stardom. It is a meaningful testament to the power of sharing truth and kindness and of finding fulfillment within yourself.

Check & Mate by Ali Hazelwood, published by on November 7. Thank you and for the !

There are so many big releases right now but I hope this book does not get lost in the shuffle because it is delightful. If you love a little romance, a little comedy, smart female leads, conflict and resolution than look no further.

In this clever and swoonworthy YA debut from the New York Times bestselling author of The Love Hypothesis, life’s moving pieces bring rival chess players together in a match for the heart.

Mallory Greenleaf is done with chess. Every move counts nowadays; after the sport led to the destruction of her family four years earlier, Mallory’s focus is on her mom, her sisters, and the dead-end job that keeps the lights on. That is, until she begrudgingly agrees to play in one last charity tournament and inadvertently wipes the board with notorious “Kingkiller” Nolan Sawyer: current world champion and reigning Bad Boy of chess.

Nolan’s loss to an unknown rook-ie shocks everyone. What’s even more confusing? His desire to cross pawns again. What kind of gambit is Nolan playing? The smart move would be to walk away. Resign. Game over. But Mallory’s victory opens the door to sorely needed cash-prizes and despite everything, she can’t help feeling drawn to the enigmatic strategist….

As she rockets up the ranks, Mallory struggles to keep her family safely separated from the game that wrecked it in the first place. And as her love for the sport she so desperately wanted to hate begins to rekindle, Mallory quickly realizes that the games aren’t only on the board, the spotlight is brighter than she imagined, and the competition can be fierce and intelligent and infuriating.

Lay Them To Rest: On the Road with the Cold Case Investigators Who Identify the Nameless by Laurah Norton published October 17, 2023.

Thank you partners and for the copy for my ! I got to sit in on a virtual chat with and the author this week. If you have ever been intrigued by forensic science and true crime, this book is for you.

Take a fascinating deep dive into the dark world of forensic science as experts team up to solve the identity of an unknown woman by exploring the rapidly evolving techniques being used to break the most notorious cold cases. Fans of true crime shows like CSI, NCIS, Criminal Minds, and Law and Order know that when it comes to “getting the bad guy” behind bars, your best chance of success boils down to the strength of your evidence—and the forensic science used to obtain it. In 2018, the accused Golden State Killer, Joseph DeAngelo, was finally apprehended after a decades-long investigation thanks to a very recent technique called forensic genealogy, which has since led to the closure of hundreds of cold cases, bringing long-awaited justice to victims and families alike.

For Laurah Norton, forensic science was always more of a passion than anything else. But after learning about a mishandled 1990s cold case involving missing twins, she was spurred to action, eventually creating massively popular podcasts ( and One Strange Thing) and building a platform that helped bring widespread attention and resources to the case.

More than just a chronicle of the history of forensics, LAY THEM TO REST is also a celebration of the growing field of experts, forensic artists, and anthropologists who work tirelessly to bring closure to these unsolved cases. Engrossing, informative, heartbreaking, and hopeful, LAY THEM TO REST is a deep dive into the world of forensic science, showing readers how far we’ve come in cracking cases and catching killers, and illuminating just how far we have yet to go.

Big Heart Little Stove: Bringing Home Meals & Moments From The Lost Kitchen by Erin French published by on October 31, 2023.

I have loved Erin French’s writing ever since reading her memoir, Finding Freedom, in 2021. I also love watching The Lost Kitchen Show. Erin French has made an art out of serving a feeling and serving a moment through food. Thanks to I was able to see Erin French virtually last night to hear all about her newest cookbook.

Someday I will visit The Lost Kitchen in Freedom, Maine and cross it off my bucket list! French’s cooking is locally sourced, simple, and thoughtful, she thinks about every single detail of the guest experience to create a once in a lifetime dining opportunity at The Lost Kitchen.

Her newest cookbook has gorgeous photos and is filled with lots of recipes for nibbles & sips, soups & stews, salads & sides, suppers, Sauces & staples, sweets, Sundays and signatures. And, it’s an audiobook! I wan’t sure about listening to recipes being read but it’s intertwined with stories, special guests and has been a great listen so far. If you purchase the audiobook, the recipes are bookmarked in the index so you have access to all the recipes electronically. I think we are going to see more audio cookbooks in the future.

Big Heart Little Stove is your new go-to inspiration for cooking thoughtful and meaningful, yet refreshingly simple meals. With more than 75 recipes and her favorite hospitality “signatures,” Erin French—author of The Lost Kitchen cookbook and the New York Times-bestselling memoir Finding Freedom—invites readers to bring a piece of her beloved restaurant, The Lost Kitchen, home with them.

Regardless of whether it’s a dressed-up affair or a quick weeknight meal, French’s recommendations are the same: Start with the best ingredients you can find, keep it simple, and serve with love.

THE NIGHT PARADE by Jami Nakamura Lin published November 7, 2023. Thank you partners and  for the copy for my ! A speculative memoir. It’s part memoir, part myth, with illustrations and stories intertwined. The book is beautiful with heavy paper and colorful, interesting pictures. If you are intrigued, check it out!

A Most Anticipated Book by The Boston Globe • San Francisco Chronicle • The Millions • Library Journal • Book Riot and many more!

Are these the only two stories? The one, where you defeat your monster, and the other, where you succumb to it?

Jami Nakamura Lin spent much of her life feeling monstrous for reasons outside of her control. As a young woman with undiagnosed bipolar disorder, much of her adolescence was marked by periods of extreme rage and an array of psychiatric treatments, and her relationships suffered as a result, especially as her father’s cancer grasped hold of their family.

As she grew older and learned to better manage her episodes, Lin became frustrated with the familiar pattern she found in mental illness and grief narratives, and their focus on recovery. She sought comfort in the stories she’d loved as a child—tales of ghostly creatures known to terrify in the night. Through the lens of the yokai and other figures from Japanese, Taiwanese, and Okinawan legend, she set out to interrogate the very notion of recovery and the myriad ways fear of difference shapes who we are as a people.

Featuring stunning illustrations by her sister, Cori Nakamura Lin, and divided into the four acts of a traditional Japanese narrative structure, The Night Parade is a genre-bending and deeply emotional memoir that mirrors the sensation of being caught between realms. Braiding her experience of mental illness, the death of her father, the grieving process, and other haunted topics with storytelling tradition, Lin shines a light into dark corners, driven by a question: How do we learn to live with the things that haunt us?

EVERYTHING IS NOT ENOUGH by Lola Akinmade Åkerström published October 24, 2023! Thank you partners and for the copy for my ! How gorgeous is this cover?

From Lola Akinmade Åkerström, bestselling author of In Every Mirror She’s Black, comes the highly anticipated second novel, focusing on the lives of three Black women as they fight their own personal struggles in one of the most egalitarian societies, Sweden.

Powerful executive Kemi Adeyemi has finally found the man she needs, but Tobias thinks she’s the most selfish woman he has ever met for asking him to give up his life in Sweden and move to the US. Will Kemi be forced to stay if she wants to keep him while chipping away at her hard-earned career? As things begin to challenge her relationship with Tobias, someone else moves back into the picture.

Looking into divorce in Sweden isn’t what former model-turned-flight attendant Brittany anticipated. Only jointly owned assets are split evenly between couples. Brittany gave up her career and came with nothing into Jonny’s kingdom. Having had a child with him, her greatest fear for Maya includes being cut off from the resources she’s become accustomed to. And the deeper she digs into his past, the darker the secrets she unravels.

After fleeing her home through a client to seek a new life in Sweden, Yasmiin finds love in the arms of Yagiz while carving out her own small corner. But as someone from her past forces Yasmiin to become a caretaker before she’s ready, she now must confront and move beyond her teenage history, while following her dreams of becoming a makeup artist.

Everything Is Not Enough follows the loosely intertwined and messy lives of three women as they interrogate themes of place, prejudice, and patriarchy in Europe, proving that Lola Akinmade Åkerströmis the next great voice of nuanced contemporary women’s fiction.

CHRISTMAS AT THE CORGI COVE by Annie England Noblin published on October 17, 2023.
Thank you partners  and  for the copy for my ! How cute is this cover? Who is ready for the holidays? Maybe not yet but this adorable book will help get you in the mood.

If you’re looking for the perfect feel-good Christmas novel, then look no further than Annie England Noblin’s newest novel. This book will absolutely delight any reader looking for a sweet and sassy read—and not to mention enchant the fans of Annie’s signature canine characters. Perfect for fans of Jill Shalvis, Sarah Morgan, Lori Wilde, and Susan Mallery.

Rosie Reynolds had come to lakeside Corgi Cove as a lost, lonely girl abandoned by her own mother, but there she discovered a true place to call home. She loves her Corgis, Bonnie and Clyde; loves the lakeside life; and loves her aunt and uncle most of all. But when she discovers their struggling inn is about to be bought out by some big city chain, she hatches a plan: to win a contest naming theirs the best Christmas-themed inn in the USA. It's a long shot, but she knows if the whole town pulls together that they can do it.

But she didn’t count on Everett St Claire, who emerged from his gleaming, black BMW, straightening his tie and asking himself how did a big-city guy like him find himself in a speck on the map like Corgi Cove? And how fast could he get back to the city? After all, it couldn’t be that difficult to convince one elderly couple to take the money to retire.

He didn’t count on getting sucked into life on the lake. Sure, the people might be…eccentric, and Rosie might seem like a pain in the backside, but there is something alluring about the place. And with the holidays nearing, and the deadline looming, Rosie and Everett are about to discover the magic of a Christmas at Corgi Cove.

BROOKLYN CRIME NOVEL by Jonathan Lethem published on October 3. Thank you, partners  and  for the book for my .

Named a Most Anticipated Book by: New York Times * Boston Globe * CrimeReads

From the bestselling and award-winning author of The Fortress of Solitude and Motherless Brooklyn comes a sweeping story of community, crime, and gentrification, tracing more than fifty years of life in one Brooklyn neighborhood.
“A blistering book. A love story. Social commentary. History. Protest novel. And mystery joins the whole together: is the crime 'time'? Or the almighty dollar? I got a great laugh from it too. Every city deserves a book like this.” — Colum McCann, author of Apeirogon and Let the Great World Spin

On the streets of 1970s Brooklyn, a daily ritual goes down: the dance. Money is exchanged, belongings surrendered, power asserted. The promise of violence lies everywhere, a currency itself. For these children, Black, brown, and white, the street is a stage in shadow. And in the wings hide the other players: parents; cops; renovators; landlords; those who write the headlines, the histories, and the laws; those who award this neighborhood its name.

The rules appear obvious at first. But in memory’s prism, criminals and victims may seem to trade places. The voices of the past may seem to rise and gather as if in harmony, then make war with one another. A street may seem to crack open and reveal what lies behind its glimmering facade. None who lived through it are ever permitted to forget.

Written with kaleidoscopic verve and delirious wit, Brooklyn Crime Novel is a breathtaking tour de force by a writer at the top of his powers. Jonathan Lethem, “one of America’s greatest storytellers” (Washington Post), has crafted an epic interrogation of how we fashion stories to contain the uncontainable: our remorse at the world we’ve made.
