With even colder temps making their way through our area, please be sure to keep an eye on your pipes!
🚰 Inside Your Home
1. Let faucets drip 💧
A slow drip keeps water moving and helps prevent freezing.
2. Open cabinet doors 🚪
This allows warm air to circulate around pipes under sinks.
3. Keep the heat on 🔥
Even when you’re away, keep your thermostat at a safe temperature.
4. Seal cracks & gaps 🧱
Use caulk or foam around windows, doors, and pipe entry points.
⸻
🧊 Protecting Outside Pipes & Faucets
1. Wrap all exposed pipes 🧤
Use foam pipe insulation or heat tape on outdoor and garage pipes.
2. Install faucet covers 🛡️
Insulated hose bib covers are inexpensive and very effective.
3. Disconnect garden hoses 🌿
Drain hoses completely and store them indoors.
4. Shut off outdoor water valves 🚿
If possible, turn off the water supply to exterior faucets and drain the line.
5. Check for leaks 🔍
Small drips can freeze faster and cause bursts.

🚨 Extra Cold Weather Tips
• Know where your main water shut-off valve is located
• Check pipes before and after hard freezes
• If a pipe freezes, do not use open flames to thaw it ❌🔥If your pipes are already frozen, be sure to thaw them SLOWLY! Trying to thaw too fast will result in burst pipes!
