St. Croix Valley Habitat for Humanity

St. Croix Valley Habitat for Humanity SCV Habitat builds strength, stability and self-reliance through shelter. FAQ's:

Q: How does Homeownership work?

A: Families in need of decent, affordable housing apply for homeownership with their local Habitat for Humanity. Habitat’s family selection committee selects homeowners based on three criteria:
The applicant’s level of need, Their willingness to partner with Habitat, Their ability to repay a mortgage through an affordable payment plan. Habitat’s homebuyers invest hundreds of hours of their own lab

or, called sweat equity, working alongside volunteers and other Habitat homeowners, in addition to paying an affordable mortgage and receiving financial education. Habitat for Humanity follows a nondiscriminatory policy of family selection. Neither race nor religion is a factor in choosing Habitat’s homeowners. Welcome back to another ! 🥳📸 Last Friday and Saturday, we were joined by the wonderful folks of Christ Lutheran Church, who helped us do some final work on our Panther Woods project in Ellsworth. Planting, weeding, pressure washing, cleaning up the site and inside of the homes, and a few miscellaneous other tasks were all on the to-do list for this awesome group! Monday our staff took some time to relax and enjoy each others' company during our annual kayaking outing down the Kinni - thanks to Minnesota Kayak Company for the rental of the kayaks and the ride! Wednesday we celebrated the Carlsness family closing on their home in Ellsworth with a dedication ceremony that brought together our volunteers, board members, and Ellsworth community leaders to welcome them home! Finally, on Thursday, we worked on a Critical Home Repair Program project in Ellsworth, installing a front storm door, a front stair railing, and repairing some window sills and brick molding. (Don't forget - you can submit your applications for the September repair session through Monday the 31st. Application can be found at https://scvhabitat.org/critical-home-repair)

Another busy week in the books! Summer may be winding down but we're still hard at work - stay tuned for info coming soon about volunteer opportunities on our next build in Baldwin! 😁🏠

This wraps up a busy week! We started with our first ever golf tournament on Monday, then had a home dedication in New Richmond on Wednesday. That night we had a table the New Richmond Heritage Center's music series concert. On Thursday we got very generous donation of bathroom cabinets from RiverRidge Home/Sourcing Solutions Inc (which you can view and purchase at St. Croix Valley Habitat ReStore), and then on Friday officially closed on the home in New Richmond, with help from Allison Markall, Executive Closer at TitleSmart, Inc. ... whew! 😅🥳 Thank you to everyone who was a part of our work this week, from golfers to dedication attendees and everyone in between!

Our office will be closed on Monday, but we'll be back it it starting on Tuesday. And don't forget, we have another home dedication coming up on Wednesday the 26th in Ellsworth!

💪 Volunteers Needed – Heavy Lifting Required!

We're giving our ReStore more space, and need a crew of 3 or 4 to help clear out a storage room in our office! This one-day project will involve disassembling old office furniture, moving it up a flight of stairs, and loading it into a trailer for disposal.

📅 Saturday, August 22 | 8:00 am–3:00 pm (we may finish early with enough helping hands!)

Your hard work will help us create more space for our ReStore, where every sale supports our mission to create and preserve safe, affordable housing in Pierce and St. Croix Counties.
