Last week, Willow River Elementary had the best time at our All School Field Trip to Camp St. Croix! Students had fun exploring together, eating ice cream treats, running through the Fire Truck Sprinkler, watching staff skits, and making mandalas! The Awesome Award was presented as well, during the closing ceremony! The weather was perfect, and it was a great day to enjoy our time together!

The Hudson High School Business Department wrapped up the school year by hosting "Young Minds & Experienced Voices," a dynamic two-day speaker series that connected students directly with local industry leaders. Students engaged with an impressive lineup of professionals including representatives from Ornament Shop, Wilder Waffle Co., the St. Croix Economic Development Corporation, CHS, and Talent Q as well as our Hudson School District Chief Human Resource Officer. These experts shared invaluable real-world insights on entrepreneurship, personal branding, financial literacy, and career networking, bridging the gap between the classroom and the community to give our future leaders tools to help navigate their future educational and career goals.

The real impact of "Young Minds & Experienced Voices" is best heard directly from our students. Here are 10 of our favorite takeaways and reflections from the final two days of school:

“This experience made me realize you are the “driver” of your own life and you can make the decisions you think are best for you.”

"I was surprised how many failures it took to succeed. 'Failing doesn’t define you, it’s just the biggest step to success.'"

“Failure isn’t the opposite of success it’s part of it”

“The most important part of building a business is networking. Change is extremely beneficial and will happen.”

“I learned how careers change throughout life and you’re not stuck with one job.”

“I learned that the path to being an entrepreneur is not easy and there are many challenges that you face but you will find the right path and will succeed.”

“I learned what economic development is. It’s okay to ask for help when starting a business.”

“Take risks by putting yourself out there, make connections, and make sure you research before making any big decisions.”

“Finance isn’t about how much money you have, it's about what you do with it.”

“It’s important to properly format and write out your resume as it can be your make or break when it comes to being hired. This connects to my life by teaching me how to work towards being hired without having to get a rejection letter first.”

Hudson Middle School 8th grade language arts students celebrated the lessons learned during their study of the classic novel The Outsiders with an Outsiders day. Students were encouraged to dress as a greaser or soc, played 1960s style playground games, and participated in a tug of war "rumble." The day was topped off with a classic car show, thanks to our generous community members who took time out of their day to bring their classic cars to our students.
