Hudson Carnegie District Library

Hudson Carnegie District Library Hudson Carnegie District Library: a beautiful building filled with awesome books for everyone!! In the early part of 1903 the town fathers wrote Andrew Carnegie for help in building a library.

Mr. Carnegie replied on March 23, 1903, stating that if the city agreed to maintain a free public library, and provide a suitable site for the building, he would furnish $10,000 to build a library. The entire cost of the library was $10,389.77. The library collection started out with 2,000 books and has grown over the years to include around 40,000 books and other materials.

I have been reading from the selection of Civil War books from the Library's collection, and an extensive collection it is!. I have noticed that in several of the books there are "tick" marks next to the start of several paragraphs. Bit of a mystery as to who made these marks and for what these marks have been made. Research?
