The Healing Heroes Foundation is a non-profit charitable organization dedicated to supporting the mental health of first responders and military members. By bringing together firefighters, law enforcement officers, dispatchers, EMS personnel, and military members, the Foundation aims to foster a sense of community and provide financial support to individuals and mental health organizations serving these populations.

It is with profound sadness that the Massachusetts Department of Correction announces the sudden line-of-duty death of Correction Officer John Edwards, a 28-year veteran of the Department assigned to North Central Correctional Institution in Gardner. This morning, Officer Edwards suffered a medical emergency at his post and passed away.

Commissioner Shawn Jenkins issued the following statement in tribute to the fallen officer:

β€œToday, we mourn the loss of Correction Officer John Edwards, who served the Department of Correction for nearly three decades with unwavering dedication to our public safety mission. We extend our deepest condolences to his family, friends, and colleagues, and offer them our full support in the difficult days ahead. His service will never be forgotten.”

Fundraising is at the heart of the BFit Heroes Cup, and these teams have gone above and beyond in support of our mission this year.

To date, our Top 5 fundraising teams have raised an incredible $72,275, earning our Top Team Fundraiser incentives through their hard work, dedication, and commitment to the community.

Heroes Cup 50/50 Raffle benefiting the families of Trooper Trainor & Firefighter Kilduff

Our first responder community has faced an incredibly difficult month of May.

First, we tragically lost Trooper Trainor while he was protecting the Commonwealth from a wrong-way driver. In the weeks that followed, Firefighter Kilduff lost his life while operating at a 3-alarm fire in the City of Boston.

As we prepare for the 8th Annual BFit Heroes Cup, we are asking for your support for the Trainor and Kilduff families.

We are launching a 50/50 raffle β€” beginning with an incredible $10,000 donation from the Boston Bruins Foundation β€” that will run through tournament weekend.

Throughout the event, memorial items will also be available in our merchandise store, with all proceeds benefiting the families of the fallen.

Tragedy has struck the Massachusetts first responder community yet again. While operating at a 3rd alarm fire, Boston Fire Rescue Company 2 FF Bob Kilduff Jr lost his life while serving the community he protected. A 24 year veteran of Boston Fire, FF Kilduff also served in the United State Marine Corp, and was a 3rd generation firefighter.

We send our thoughts and prayers to Boston Fire, FF Kilduff’s friends and family. Thank you for your service to our country. Another hero has laid their life down protecting the community they swore to serve. Rest easy BK
