A Flood Watch has been issued for much of East Texas and North Louisiana, valid through 7 PM Tuesday. Expect rounds of heavy rainfall over the next few days with widespread 1-3 inch amounts and isolated higher totals exceeding 6+ inches. Training storms may result in 1-2+ inch hourly rain rates, increasing the threat of flash flooding.
There will be a risk for locally heavy rainfall and flash flooding across the majority of the region today and tonight. New rainfall accumulations of 1 to 3 inches are possible. Within the Slight Risk area, there is a 15% chance of flash flooding within 25 miles of any given location.

Pet Preparedness Month in June encourages pet owners to create emergency plans, assemble go-kits, and practice safety drills to protect their animals during disasters.

Key Activities for Pet Preparedness Month

1. Create a Pet Emergency Plan

Identify safe locations for your pets during emergencies, including pet-friendly hotels, friends, relatives, or boarding facilities, and keep a list of contacts and phone numbers ready

Include pets in family evacuation drills so they become comfortable with carriers and travel
Ensure pets have up-to-date vaccinations, collars with identification, and consider microchipping for added security

For livestock or large animals, map your farm, mark shelters, access routes, and hazardous areas, and review the plan with employees

2. Assemble a Pet Emergency Kit
Include leashes, harnesses, carriers, food, water, bowls, medications, medical records, and a first aid kit

Add current photos of pets, feeding schedules, and veterinarian contact information

Include comfort items like toys or bedding to reduce stress during emergencies

For large animals, stockpile feed, water, medications, and essential documentation

3. Educate and Raise Awareness

Share preparedness tips on social media using hashtags like

We had a great time today supporting the Neches River Rendezvous. Thank you for letting us be part of this tremendous event again. We took part in the Safety Team which included the Texas Parks and Wildlife, Army Corps of Engineers, and Houston County EMS, and the Deep East Texas Amature Radio Club.

Over a 100 canoes and Kayaks with paddlers from all over made the 9 mile trip on this beautiful day.

As we enter National Search and Rescue week, we want to thank all our members for everything they do. Volunteer SAR is not a hobby, it is a Lifestyle and our members demonstrate their dedication to SAR on a regular basis through training and responding when needed no matter what the weather, distance or situation.

Congratulations to everyone who participated in the Bowie County Sheriff's Office Search & Rescue event that was hosted by Bowie County Sheriff Office SAR team to celebrate their 20th anniversary of being a team!

It was a 5K with 4 divisions (women, men, women with K9, men with K9). This was held in Bringle Lake Park West in Texarkana, TX.

Our members walked/jogged the 5k, and finished with the following

Ricky Rodriguez came in 2nd place in his division (Men with K9, with Blanco).
Jessica Martin came in 3rd place in her division (Women with K9, with Shadow)
Abby McMillian came in 4th place in her division (Women with K9, with Nox, Hemera and Ellie)

Congratulations Bowie County Sheriff's Office Search & Rescue for 20 years of service to their county.

SAN AUGUSTINE LIONS CLUB – On May 7, 2026, Team President Mike Stephens presented at the San Augustine Lions Club. The presentation included information about our team, our training and how we provide our services to the East Texas region and beyond.
