🚒🔥 Training Night at St. Joseph Fire & Rescue 🔥🚒
Last night, our members took part in a hands-on vehicle fire refresher training with the help of Northwood Technical College and their vehicle fire prop.
The evening started in the classroom with a review of vehicle fire safety, apparatus placement, and various extinguishment techniques before heading outside to put those skills into action.
Using realistic scenarios, crews practiced responding to and suppressing vehicle fires while focusing on communication, teamwork, and scene safety. To add another layer of realism, we incorporated a firefighter down scenario involving an ankle injury, giving our EMRs the opportunity to assess, treat, and manage one of our own.
Training like this ensures our members are prepared for the challenges they may face on emergency scenes and reinforces an important reminder: every call is different, and every firefighter goes home.
