🔥 LIVE BURN TRAINING 🔥

Last night was an intense—and incredibly valuable—night of training at St. Joseph Fire & Rescue as we welcomed the Northwood Technical College Live Burn Trailer to our station!

Members worked through realistic fireground evolutions, operating as crews with specific assignments just as we would on an actual fire scene:

🚒 Engine Crew — fire attack and suppression
💧 Tender Crew — maintaining our water supply
🔥 Rescue Crew — entering and rescuing any victims located in fire
🛟 RIT Crew — Rapid Intervention Team, ready to assist firefighters in an emergency
🪜 Ladder Crew — responsible for ladder placement and additional fireground operations
💪 Rehab — monitoring and supporting our crews between evolutions

Each crew rotated through the different assignments, giving our members the opportunity to practice not only individual skills, but the communication, teamwork and coordination required to make an entire fireground operation come together.

Live-fire training gives our firefighters the opportunity to work in realistic conditions while reinforcing fire behavior, suppression tactics, crew accountability, communication and safety.

This is training we complete annually, and for good reason. When the real call comes in, there is no time to figure it out—we train so our skills, teamwork and communication are ready when our community needs us most.

A huge thank you to Northwood Technical College for bringing the Live Burn Trailer to us, and to everyone who helped make last night’s training possible—including Abby for keeping our crews taken care of in rehab! ❤️

Today kicked off the 2026 NSCA US Open at Game Unlimited, and St. Joseph Fire & Rescue is proud to be providing on-site medical support throughout the event!

For the next six days, two members of our department will be stationed on-site each day with our Polaris Ranger, moving throughout the course and ready to respond should a medical emergency arise.

Events like this bring competitors and visitors from all over to our little corner of Wisconsin, and we’re happy to do our part to help keep everyone safe while they’re here. Whether we’re responding to calls throughout the township or tucked somewhere out on the course, our crews are never too far away. 😉

Day 1 is officially in the books! We’re looking forward to the rest of the week and wishing all of the competitors a safe and successful 2026 NSCA US Open! 🎯

National Night Out is always one of our favorite evenings of the year!

Tuesday night, members of St. Joseph Fire & Rescue loaded up Engine 6 and Tender 7 and spent the evening visiting three neighborhoods throughout St. Joseph Township. We had a great time meeting so many wonderful community members, giving tours of our apparatus, answering questions, and showing the kids all of the tools and equipment we carry to help keep our community safe.

Of course, the biggest smiles came when a few of our firefighters geared up in full turnout gear so everyone could see exactly what we wear on emergency calls. At one stop, the fun turned into a friendly competition as one of our firefighters raced the kids while wearing full gear—a challenge that had everyone laughing and cheering!

Events like National Night Out remind us that some of the best relationships are built before an emergency ever happens. We truly appreciate the opportunity to spend time with our community, answer questions, and help make the fire department a little less intimidating for our youngest residents.

Just as we wrapped up our final neighborhood visit, the pager sounded for a reported vehicle fire, and our crews responded—bringing a perfect end to an evening that showcased both the community side of the fire service and our commitment to answering the call whenever duty calls.
Thank you to everyone who invited us into your neighborhoods and spent part of your evening with us. We had a blast and can’t wait to do it again next year!

A huge THANK YOU to our friends at Big Guys BBQ Roadhouse for once again keeping our firefighters well-fed before our monthly meeting and training night! 🍽️🚒

They generously donated an incredible batch of pulled pork that was enjoyed by our members before we got down to the evening’s business and training.

Support from local businesses like Big Guys BBQ means so much to our department. Their continued generosity and commitment to our community never go unnoticed, and we’re incredibly grateful for everything they do to support St. Joseph Fire & Rescue.
